Straight out of Reno 911. The one security guy looks disturbingly like Barney Frank, though.
Berlin, 1937......
Is he on public or private property?
lol asking questions outside of an award ceremony for journalistic excellence haha.
USC is a private university. So legally they have the right to throw him out. What this little episode says about their respect for freedom of the press is a whole different matter. And this was at a journalism function.
It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better...the fascists have taken our country and think they can do anything they want without fear of retribution...
Thank God for people like Ziegler. Media Malpractice almost made me physically ill, but it was journalism work that needed to be done, and no one else had the cajones to do it. The editing hatchet job that was done on Sarah Palin was amazing to see exposed like that. Keep up the good work Zig!
University police? Are they sworn peace officers?
Laws don’t apply to those who are of the Great Government!
next case...
Can he sue their a$$e$ now? Sheesh, talk about heavy-handed. People impressed with their own power.
Probably more like what we used to refer to as "vege-cops." (which was even more appropriate at the 7th-day Adventist university I attended)
That is so funny, handcuffing a journalist in front of a sign advertising the Walter Cronkite Journalism Awards. USC has a serious case of rectocranial inversion.
Without question. They are duly sworn law enforcement officers able to detain for questioning in investigation of a crime, to arrest and apprehend and to enforce California laws on the University campus.
Yes.
They have arrest powers on campus.
Actually if he was denied access to the event only, then there would be nothing saying that he COULDN’T be outside the event. Unfortunately we don’t have the tape of anyone asking him to leave (the campus police “asking” was not really asking, now was it?).
An example of Obama’s brown shirts. Get ready people it’s coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If some rent-a-cop handcuffed a journalist that sloppily here in New Zealand for such a flimsy reason, he would be SO PROSECUTED for assault and battery, as well as unlawful detention and possibly false arrest. The rent-a-cop’s head would surely roll.
Dunno what your laws are like in the US: looks like it’s okay for you guys to be taken captive by anybody in a polyester suit with a pair of cuffs. Not here in New Zealand: we have Freedom here and our laws say so.
What crime was he committing? Or what crime were they investigating (that is the only reason they can detain, according to your statement)? What California laws were being broken?
