Joe the Plumber didn't need a teleprompter when he spoke yesterday. If Obama's teleprompters had been there, they would have turned their tails and run away with their cords tucked between their legs, cowering at the sight of 5,000 people who were opposed to Obama policies, and the sight of "Joe the Plumber," who was in Lansing, Michigan to speak at the taxpayer protest tea party. It was on April 15th, 2009, the day that income tax payments were due for everyone who is not a cabinet member of the Obama administration. Governor Granholm said that those who attended tea parties were part of a radical fringe right wing group. Sound familiar? Anyone who has views not those of Obama are in that category.
Tea parties swept the nation, bringing out huge sign carrying crowds nationwide just as Homeland Security tried to discredit the protest the day before with the release of the "report," "Right wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" by Obama's Homeland Security Department. It was a liberal smear attempt of the day's attendees and an attempt to paint all those who oppose Obama with a wide radical brush.
But it just wasn't "right wing" Republicans who were there. There were Democrats and Independents who believe that wrong is just plain wrong.
People were expressing their rights of free speech and peaceful assembly. They were tired of being pushed around by Obama's big socialist government, pork, and his spending money as fast as he can print it. This mass national turn out coming after just three months of his administration. There has never been such a large protest in the history of the country coming from non liberal gatherings.
It was from the high up on the steps of the Capitol...

I didn’t see any teleprompters at any of the TEA parties!
Nor did I see any two signs that were identical...curious for a staged event organized by right wing billionaires (sarc)
Yesterday was incredible, guys! It was great to hear the news actually report on the Tea Parties, even though they did their damned best to spin it. Great work everyone!
On to Washington on July 4th?
The host of our TEA party had a “low-tech, cordless teleprompter” — paper notes. One speaker had his “redneck palm pilot” — notes on his hand. It was great.
I did and it surprised me. I saw plenty of Fair Tax signs and several of others.
What I did notice was all the hand made signs that were overwhelming. Many had the same wording. What I would like to see is more signs that are creative and humorous. These are what people remember and they will get coverage.
Its the taste test between canned meat and fresh meat, same stuff but while one is able to be stored on shelves and used at will the other is fresh, has no preservatives or flavor enchancers or for that matter protein substitutes.
Joe the Plumber is America.
Obama is Spam.
You and me both. At my Tea Party, in Houston, the signage was mostly wordy and uncreative. Factual, yes, memorable, no
Bill O'reilly taught me the golden rule of political signage: Keep it pithy and keep it short!
You must have been at a different tea party than I was at. In Lansing, with Joe the Plumber, the vast majority, 99% were hand made and many were quite complex, both in design and statement. I only saw a half dozen pre-printed signs.
He sure as hell is, I delete him from the TV as soon as I see him. He is terrible.
Thanks Governor for calling me right wing fringe. Just because I pay my taxes, go to work every day, employee people, and disagree with how you run this state, that makes me a whack job. Good thing you’re not running again. We’ll find someone else who can help us retake this state.
Governor Granholm told Michigan that her her economic plan would “Blow You Away.” It did, didn’t it?
Perhaps it is because they can't spell!
It does look manufactured when it is uniform.
Grass roots is all unique with a similar theme.
Stop Fascism and Socialism. Stop spending my grand-kid’s money.
