Mark Levin 2007 Flashback ("Tired of you people not doing your homework"

Mark Levin radio Show (May 10, 2007) The reason I’m quitting is simple. I’m fed up with you people.

I’m fed up because you have no understanding of what’s really going on in the world. Or of what’s going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too lazy to do your homework and figure it out.

Let’s start local. You’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that’s despite record numbers of homeowners including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we’re mentioning minorities, I’ll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton Administration. I’ve mentioned all those things before, but it doesn’t seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you do not understand that gas prices are high because there’s increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy people are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.

A year or so later

9/20/2008 Mark Levin explains how the mortgage “crisis” got here:

And it was over a long period of time giving out loans to people who didn’t deserve them, pressure not only by the Clinton Administration and Janet Reno, but by Carter’s administration. Naturally, leftists are never responsible for what’s going on; the solution is blame Bush.

This is what I have been looking for. I had some trouble finding it. Notice the comparison between the two clips, the first in 2007 HE says the media is lying about the economy claiming it is NOT good, the second Fall 2008 he says that the crash was Clinton and Carter’s fault. I am not here to stick up for democrats (they certainly did their part in this, they had much to gain) but I know so many republicans that believe everything Mark says. If it was Clinton and Carter’s fault why was Mark saying the media was lying about the economy a year earlier?

You might get hassled for this post. Of course, I think you are right to point it out. Accountability. Radio talkers say whatever, and it goes down the memory hole. They react to the day to day. Levin has a lot of worthwhile things to say, but this shows the problem of partisan cheerleading. People like Levin think because they hate libs, they need to cheerlead for the GOP. But in the end, if anyone is paying attention, they lose their credibility in the process. Had he been railing about the looming housing crisis in 07, he'd have a leg to stand on.

Plenty of people WERE warning us, but they were mostly people with expertise in economics, not carnival barkers. That guy Brinker on "money talk" was warning about fannie and freddie for years. But he's not a sensationalist. Or a partisan. He has credibility.

All that said, Levin has good things to say. Some lunkheads buy his books and probably learn something. He's several IQ points ahead of Hannity, for what that's worth.

Why don’t you speak with Mr. Levin himself?

THANK YOU!!!

I bought and read his ‘Men in Black’. The election losses, the economic crash and Peter Schiff opened my eyes. These brain dead talking points get to me, and I swear I was a Levin-bot a year ago. But Both parties told us crap and Schiff predicted the crash and why. Obviously this stuff is not working, people are not drinking it. Yes, Levin is 100X smarter than Hannity.

Not sure the point here. The first is 100% valid. The second is too. The economy was strong for years until late 2007 despite the media’s alternative view. The fact is part of it’s strength was built on leverage and loans that shouldn’t have been given. This was not a Bush-created system by any stretch. Levin is accurate in both accounts. He didn’t bring up CRA problems or such, but few were at any time before Sept. Most that did were vilified as racist by the Dems/Black Caucus.

from about 03-07 The markets were up, unemployment was very low for a sustained period of time. Gas was high, but due to world wide demand. Sounds spot on to me.

“You mean call his show?....”
No he is a FReeper. I linked him to your post in my post #4.
It is a practice that if you are speaking of another FReeper you include that person in the discussion.

I was a fan for a long time but last year showed he is too smart for me. I heard him make fun and yell at Ron Paul supporters, but Ron Paul predicted the crash BEFORE it happen, not after like him.

I don’t mind telling you I think your arguments are not good.

I think this is classic divide and conquer stuff on the internet designed to impugn strong conservative voices like Levin.

At worst, Levin could not see in 2007 what kind of mortgages the government was propping up— which is completely reasonable.

At best, Levin is right in both cases— which is not at all irreconcilable.

Obama does have a view of paying for mortgages in cases where people have over extended themselves. We now know that.

Your arguments are decisively helpful to the radical Left and they are perfectly timed for the tea parties.

I used to worry on the forums about whether the person making such arguments was “intending” such impacts on the conservative movement. I don’t think it matters any more. We need to identify arguments for how they tend to enhance or defeat the conservative movement.

The purist notions of, this is good for the long run don’t wash with me any longer. The Purist game definitely put the democrats in power in 2006 and rapidly accelerated it in 2008.

When the Obamabots become much closer to perfection, I will step up and pick the speck out of Levin’s eye. Until then, such rhetoric is helpful to the Obamabots.

This is bad argumentation to be making against Levin.

RE:”The Purist game definitely put the democrats in power in 2006 and rapidly accelerated it in 2008.

No it didnt. It was party line loyalism and repeating idiotic talking points (like you suggest I do) that made republicans look like jokes. This was him repeating White House talking points. He is still repeating canned talking points. We need republicans to have credibility and GWB defenders dont have it. BTW: He is downright insulting to Ron Paul supporters. Peter Schiff has more brains in his pinky than Levin, and Schiff wont insult you when you call in.

Tea party's are great. But not for GWB/Cheney. Keep them away

You are comparing apples to oranges. In both instances, Mark was reporting based on the facts available at the time.

So, we just have to come up with better rhetoric? Then we can all cheer because “our rhetoric is better than their rhetoric”?

How about truth? Does that factor in somewhere or is it just all about what is not good for Obama?

Schiff may have predicted the bust, but he sure didn’t do so well when knowing what was coming. For all the faith you give him, he lost large like the rest of us.

Arguing about a snippet here and there, all not in the context they were made, is useless. Levin says what needs to be said when the time calls for it. He is not the feckless “conservatives” who are supposedly against the cancerous liberal policies.

Ron Paul is a man, period. You can argue from now until eternity about his logic, and you’ll be no better / worse for it. Like Ross Perot before him, we’ve now got trouble that will come back to haunt us much later. Clinton gave us 9/11.

What will Obama and his Clinton Retreads give us?!

I call BS.

“And the majority of you are too lazy to do your homework and figure it out.”

This is the money quote and you didn’t do yours sickoflibs. You posted as if Mark said this but it is actually a post on MarkLevinFan.com of a letter to be read as if it was written by George W Bush that has been viral for years.

Man up and apologize.
