AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state, Gov. Perry said. That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.
Perry continued: "Millions of Texans are tired of Washington, DC trying to come down here to tell us how to run Texas."
-Drudge
I might move to Texas. This RINO Governor in Utah isn't doing it for me. Governor Huntsman has been more than happy to take stimulus money, and since day one has been preaching "green."
Governor Perry is absolutely right. The 10th amendment states: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. In other words, the federal governments powers are limited to a specific set of activities the rest is to be handled by the state government, or locally, by the people themselves.
In addition, the Constitutions proponents publicly told the American people what subjects would be within the states exclusive jurisdiction, and outside the federal governments control. They did this in a variety of speeches, newspaper articles, letters, and pamphlets.
Here are some of the powers they solemnly promised would be outside the federal sphere:
governance of religion training the militia and appointing militia officers control over local government most crimes state justice systems family affairs real property titles and conveyances wills and inheritance the promotion of useful arts in ways other than granting patents and copyrights control of personal property outside of commerce governance of the law of torts and contracts, except in suits between citizens of different states education services for the poor and unfortunate licensing of taverns roads other than post roads ferries and bridges regulation of fisheries, farms, and other business enterprises.
Have you seen the Federal Government exercising any control over any of the aforementioned? I have, and it is getting worse by the day. The Government is simply to large, and I applaud Governor Perry for his firm stance.
Best news I’ve heard since Palin. The movement has begun, and the Texas gov. is prepared to lead the fight. Pray for Rick. Pray for Jindal. Courage. We’ve got to wake up take this country back!
Don't be fooled by Rick Perry. He is widely and rightfully despised by right-thinking Texans.
NO!
We have to wake up enough people to take our STATES back...
At that point we can remove ourselves from the influence of the marxists in this nation and take our FREEDOM and LIBERTY back!
Don’t Mess With Texas!
It starts. Rebellion is coming. People have had enough.
Well...
Lets figure this out.
What motivations could Perry have for supporting this and putting out the statement he did? Of those possible motivations which can be proven or disproved? Are the motivations compatible with ours if not the same?
Is it beneficial to aid him and others in legitimizing in a bunch of peoples minds the idea that the Federal government has become oppressive of the states and the peoples freedom?
I know that the marxists will try to delegitimize the messenger of these ideas and concepts as a way of delegitimizing the ideas and concepts themselves. We have all seen it done a thousand times.
So... Again...
What do we know about him?
What are the possible Motivations?
Are the motivations compatible with our own or malicious?
Can we use the aid and limit any potential damage caused by a malicious motivation?
What other Governors are in queue to take similar stands?
I don’t know who’s worse, Rick or KB Hutchison and her marriage to the bailout. That’s why I suggest prayer — for Rick at this time. He’s grown some cahones for a moment and I for one appreciate it.
KBH is now known as Kay Bailout Hutchison.
