I think that this skinny will not go to Gitmo. He will find himself in the Federal system and will be tried in due course. The penalties for piracy on the high seas are rather straightforward, the left having paid little attention to this element of the law. He will be convicted, and will likely be confined to Marion or some similar venue.

He will rot in prison as is appropriate to his station in life.

I doubt it. Now that Captain Phillips is safe, I bet they release this guy in a gesture of compassion and “pirate outreach,” claiming that this is the best way to “save” the 16 crewmembers of the tugboat and to avoid future hostage-takings and “piratical contingency operations.”

Mark my words, Obama will try to get even more mileage out of this: “Captain Courageous Obama manfully ordered the daring rescue operation that saved the life of intrepid merchant marine captain then, in a dazzling display of magnanimity, patted the 16-year-old suviving pirate on the head and said, ‘Gentle Son of Africa, let him who is without sin cast the first stone. We Americans have been so evil, so cruel, so greedy as we consumed more than our fair share of the world’s resources. We have repented and you, Dear Brother, Child of Islam, you shall go before the Lord Obama, to prepare his way, to bring knowledge of salvation to the benighted and oppressed masses of the world. Lo, the Teleprompter on High has spoken. Go and sin no more, my child.’”

“And with that the waters of not just the shallow Reed Sea but of the entire Indian Ocean parted and the Pied Obamateur led the cowering ranks of Africa dryshod into the Promised Land of Nirvana.”

“And then Lord Obama rested from his labors and chowed down on St. Louis pizza on the eighth day.”

The End.
