You said — Your constant 0bama worship is getting old. Begone troll.

Well, with 15,500 posts, I’m far from a troll... LOL...

I think your problem is that you let your distaste for Obama get in the way of “reality” — as it is in the world....

No matter who it is, and no matter that conservatives did not vote for Obama (and that includes me, since you are “reality-challenged”...) — there are some things which are done that one can be glad for...

Foodfight!

This thread is destined to devolve into accusations of Zero worship, @sskissing, DUmmie calling, and worse. Bambie signed off (some reports twice) on the Pentagon requests to use deadly force. Anyone who even concedes that this was a big win for the U.S.A gets bashed as a ‘rat plant. The Kenyan did his job. Nothing more, nothing less.

"I suspect that after the first missed opportunity that he finally caved in and gave the OK to act if another such opportunity presented itself. I hope he learned a lesson from this.

I think they were ordered to stand down when the first incident happened. He gave the ok to act after that incident - never dreaming that the captain would ever escape again!!

zerO has a lot to learn about the American military!!

In the US government organization, the hostage negotiation experts are at Quantico and are part of the FBI

The Navy does not have and does not need the redundency of super trained hostage negotiators

I'm going to agree with most of what you say, and to the rest of the posters: I don't care if bammy is what we know he is...I believe he was advised well. Whoever is responsible for this rescue, kudos, and let's give credit where credit is due. There's too much other crap we still have to deal with...

Well, thanks for that. I’m encouraged that there are some who still “think” with a brain... LOL..

No really..., no one, even someone you hate can be wrong 100% of the time. You just gotta recognize that — or else — you seem to be “polarized” beyond “reality”. If you seem to be so polarized that you cannot recognize when “something” is done right — then no one will listen to you about anything else. You end up “marginalizing” yourself in the process.... (and I’m not talking about “you”...LOL...).

So, yes, you do have to recognize some reality to the situation without appearing to be *so polarizing* that you recognize nothing of value.

And, for those who are mentally-challenged — no, this does not mean I voted for Obama... LOL...

President Obama twice authorized the military to rescue a U.S. captain held by Somali pirates and whose life appeared to be at risk.

They gotta call the Oval Office minute by minute as things happen?

News of Captain Phillips' first escape try spread as did the Navy's lack of response. It's likely IMO that the Navy had orders to stand down, watch and report.

President Obama no way could refuse urgent appeals from outside the White House to do something after Phillip's unsuccessful attempt failed to invoke a military response -- even if Obama really does believe god damn America and Her "typical white people."

Yes. I understand contingency plans were uncovered that originated with GW’s administration. (Oddly, I heard only one news story about this!) It would be nice if OBAMA would give credit where credit is due.

His first attempt was at night, and happened just hours after the Navy arrived on the scene. They had the pirates on the ropes and the passing of time made them less and less alert. That's confirmed by the fact that all three of the pirates put themselves in a position to get picked off at the same time. And, they had lowered the odds to three-to-one instead of four-to-one by waiting until one of the bad boys was no longer a factor. Odds were they were not going to kill the captain, he was there ONLY bargaining chip.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I think you consider success or failure by the outcome. In this case, I have a hard time faulting those who were in the hot seat and on whom success or failure depended, not just in a roundabout way but in every sense of the concept.
