Proper behavior to keep your puppy safe is counterintuitive.
Everything you want to do with a new puppy, such as taking them to Petsmart, out to the park, etc., you shouldn’t do until your puppy has been weaned for long enough and gone through the proper number of immunizations that your vet deems proper.
(In a nutshell, the puppy’s immune system has immunity from its mother’s milk, and this interferes with the initial vaccination from fully protecting the puppy from parvovirus.)
Our late beloved border collie had two litters (ABCA registered), and we gave each purchaser a six page single-spaced set of instructions on puppy care. And went over it with ‘em, too.
