St- I believe these are just some of the signs Jesus spoke of when he said there will be *Signs in the Heavens*
Well, TaraP, the problem I have with some of the “so-called signs” that some people put forth as the signs that the Bible is talking about — is — that I have no way to distinguish some of these signs from the very same things that have happened in the past several thousand years of mankind’s history (like supernova happening continuously all this time, along with meteorites striking the earth and “near-fly-bys” of potential meteors, coming close to earth).
And these same “signs” will be happening continuously into the future, because they are normal astronomical events and nothing “extra special” at this particular time.
NOW, contrast that with the re-establishment of the nation of Israel — which does happen to be an “extra-special event” that has never happened before in the history of mankind. That’s a “sign” that is not duplicated and is absolutely unique. I *can recognize* that one as being “extra special”.
So, you see what I’m talking about — in regards to signs that have happened *continuously* from times past and will continuously happen into the future, as they are normal astronomical events.
BUT, when some astronomical event happens that is *absolutely unique* and hasn’t happened before — then I’ll start paying attention to “those particular signs”...
—
HOWEVER, having said all that above, the real fact of the matter is that I don’t even need *one single astronomical sign* for any indication that we are close to the time of Jesus Christ’s second coming. That’s because we have many other real and unique and verifiable “signs” that are related to the world’s situation, right now. Those are powerful signs in and of themselves. So, I don’t look for these “astronomical signs” for verification. I’ve got so much “verification” outside of those signs, that I don’t even need them...
Let me give you one particular example of a “Signs in the Heavens” that would be “absolutely unique” and one that I do expect to happen.
That “sign in the Heavens” would be the Rapture. That’s going to be a unique event. Now, keep in mind that Jesus was “raptured” to Heaven, too. We have an “example” from Jesus of how that particular “Rapture” happened.
Over 500 witnesses stood there watching as Jesus was taken up into Heaven. They just stood and gazed and gazed. It would be my contention that the same kind of Rapture will happen for believers, too and that the world will see this “sign in the Heavens”... :-)
Keep in mind that the Bible does not say that we will be taken up “in an instant” but rather that we will be “changed” in an instant. There’s a difference and the *example* we have of the Rapture is that it’s something that happens that people “can see” happening...
That would definitely be a “sign in the Heavens” that would be absolutely unique.
ANOTHER SIGN in the Heavens that would be absolutely unique would be the angel that is sent around the world declaring the “everlasting gospel” to every nation, peoples, kinds and groups and tribes, etc. In other words, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will *finally* be given to all people in the world, when this angels is sent around the world with the Gospel. This is what *finally* accomplishes it.
And *that* would be another “unique” sign in the Heavens that has not been done before.
So, I’ve given you two possible “Signs in the Heavens” which meet that criteria that I’m talking about... :-)
