We are not in need of John Galt, what the country needs is Alexander Hamilton, Ben Franklin, George Washington.
______________
I'm sure they would be sickened at what we, the people have let happen and are continuing to let happen to the Republic they gave us. The Constitution and Bill of Rights are simple to understand, yet they pretty much covered everything to help us keep the Republic.
We got lazy. It was stolen bit by bit and now we finally wake up and realize it's nearly gone. Tea parties are great, we have to start somewhere, but look what has been done in 2 months. Tea parties are stopping nothing. My God people, we have the potus firing people at GM, taking over the banks, talking about nuclear disarmament while Iran and North Korea are acquiring them... I could go on and on. This was all planned and they know they have to move fast so that it can be accomplished before too many people catch on.
We can't look to the party for help. Not unless we have new blood in there. Most of them are weak or corrupt and that includes Democrats and Republicans. Now with ACORN, the Unions, census, do you honestly believe we will have fair elections? Look at the Coleman and Franken race. Next time they will make damn sure it's not that close so they can easily steal it.
Corruption, fraud runs rampant from the coast of California all the way to Washington DC. I am having a harder time each day seeing any hope for this country. Too many years have been spent digging this hole and we are in it and don't know how to get out. Look at who is the happiest right now and that tells it all, the CPUSA

I agree with stockpirate. Allegory as turgid prose may be wonderful, but it's more important that citizens reacquaint themselves with founding principles.

It is also useful to note that the founders said things like "We should all hang together or we'll all hang separately" and "Join or die."

The whole "rugged individualism" thing, like anything good, can be taken too far. And it's often spouted by people who rely on gas stations to get them to their air conditioned office where they take an electricity-powered elevator...

You see my point. We are interconnected whether we like it or not. I am vehemently opposed to Obama's social-collectivism, but it's time to drop the fantasies and reconnect with reality. A sober assessment of where we are followed by evaluating our circumstances against founding principles is a good start. If you have time to read a novel as well, great.
