Here is a report on the release of a Republican budget alternative yesterday that does provide details and numbers. As the report indicates, it has no chance of passage, but it does answer the President's charge last week that Republicans provide no alternative. The GOP proposal would freeze spending in many areas for five years, make the Bush tax cuts permanent, and reform Medicare to save money. . . . . . . (Watch Video)

Oh, yes, and CNN makes sure you know that they also think the Republicans are nuts. How dare they come up with an alternative to the socialists?

A conservative alternative would freeze spending in ALL areas, and reduce spending in some. Once again the GOP is merely promising a better and cheaper welfare state. If it has no chance of passing anyway, they should use it to stake out the conservative position, rather than present something that they hope might pass muster with the Dems and the media.

And, a truly conservative alternative would make total cuts in those departments that fall outside the Federal limitations outlined in the Constitution...Dept of Ag, Dept of Education, HHS, etc.

Now THAT would be an agenda I could support, as a good start on taking back the country.

I am a broken record.

Please use whatever program you like to email Senator Mitch McConnell, Senate Republican Leader and his whip, Senator Jon Kyle, AND Congressman John Boehner, HOUSE (where the money bills originate) Republican Leader. Eric Cantor is House Whip but on his website he doesn’t have an email as House Whip.

‘Splain to them what Traditional Conservative, Constitution Defending really means. Quote the Constitution and The Federalist Papers, I usually do. I’m a dreamer that one day, someone will finally ‘get’ it.

That would even be a good finish.
