I agree with the author on this. I think we need to stop letting Rush be our straw man. If you don't agree, obviously, you aren't thinking about winning elections or earning the votes of average citizens, you're thinking about how much you love Rush's opinions.

Michael Steele is the leader of the party, but he apologized for the disparaging remarks he made about Rush, and he should have.

When almost no one else will stand up and speak about limited government, what choice is there. Hardly anyone in Washington as the first clue and only a small handful of governors do.

Sorry, but he is the leader of conservatism today and may be the best representative we have had since 1988. He is not the leader of the GOP nor does he claim to be. The GOP is lost in the wilderness, and only if some decent leadership appears will it matter who leads the GOP.

Apparently you don’t understand that voters won’t vote for Republicans who act like Democrat wannabes—that includes those who are soft and squishy and try to be sooo nice to Democrats. Rush tells it like it is.

Michael Steele did not have to apologize at all. Rush being the provocateur that he is, attacked him and criticized him as well. This was disrespectful of Rush. I think Rush should have apologized to Michael Steele. The reality is Rush Limbaugh has sacrificed the party for his own benefit.

What a load!

I think we've come to a point where we think we know more about politics than our own politicians.

Hell, yeah!

I don't believe that Steele should have apologized,

Michael Steele should not have apologized, he should have resigned and gone over to the Democrats whose bidding he does. He should make it official. We don't need more liberal douche bag lite democrats in the Republican party. If it is EVER to beat the Democrats it will not do it by letting the Democrats manipulate the strings of the republican "leaders" (to use the word "leaders" advisedly). An example of what we don't need is McCain's moron daughter excreting out of her mouth about Coulter who has more intelligence in one of her bleached hairs that McCain's daughter has in her whole 220 pounds.

Were you the author of the article?

You have been here such a long time—a little over two months.

And you have already said, that if one does not agree with the author, well, then, you aren’t thinking about winning elections.

Rush is no one’s straw man. And if the GOP really wanted to win elections in 2006 and 2008, it would have listened to Rush. And we certainly would never have had Juan McLoser as a candidate if we really wanted to win the White House—MCLooney has been a grenade thrower at the GOP for the last eight years.

Rush had the guts to talk back to President Obama when Obama took on a private citizen and tried to tell Republicans not to listen to his show. I guess you have faced down a President who tried to take away your livelihood.

Our wonderful GOP leaders were speechleess and spineless as usual, but not Rush.

So take your Rush bashing elsewhere—it doesn’t sell here.

The GOP is flirting with going the way of the Whigs in one or two more election cycles. Conservatives have had it with being the red-headed step children of the GOP.

We helped the GOP win all three branches of the White House, and then we and our principles were kicked to the curb.

And for all of their hot air about loving America, the GOP, through their ineptitude, stupidity and spinelessness gave us Obama and a Democrat controlled Congress.

And the last line of the article was among the stupidest things I have ever read.

Your ridiculous assertion that we either love Rush’s opinions or we want the average citzens’s votes is a real straw man argument.

Its the GOP that should have apologized for Michael Steele, hiring that CINO that is. I`m sick and tired of the Republicratic party knuckling under to the rats and compromising their principles! If its as simple as being liberal lite then why not simply go all the way?Because it`s the principles, stupid! If you believe that there is no right or wrong and principles don`t matter then maybe you`re on the wrong forum?Thats the kind of thinking that took the party of J.F.K. to the party of Barky the ass-clown wonder mutt. Why don`t you consider posting on DUmmy underground because you sure sound like a troll.

You mess with Rush, you’re messin’ with me. Rush is a conservative with a very large audience. Steele is the leader of a party that has lost its way.

Final sentence of Mr. Kane's post:

I think we've come to a point where we think we know more about politics than our own politicians.

Can we not give Rush some credit for effecting this? Only an insincere person would say 'no'.
As for the rest of Kane's rant, he's yet another, of a definite minority, on the Right who refuses to recognize the important contribution Rush has made to the elucidation of the voting populace. Rush is much astute, and very good at, disassembling political legerdemain and explaining what it really is and why they do it.
Read Kane's opinions of Rush, it is blatantly obvious he has 'Rush-Envy'. Some of what he states is outlandishly false or an outright lie.
Kane comes across as a certain white-trash Republican here on FR. One wonders if Kane too escorted his cousin to the high school prom.

Not to worry. When the scatterbrained Obama debates Sarah Palin in a few years, and sits there with that effete, $hit-eatin’ grin on his face, the grand lady will, metaphorically, effectively slap it off.
