Is the Left afraid of Sarah Palin?
Political Castaway ^ | 3/27/2009 | The Castaways

You betcha, they are.

Although early polling seems to demonstrate that Sarah doesn't have much of a chance head-to-head against President Obama in 2012, the left seems intent on tearing her down.

If it's not stories about her children (does she really have to continue to "prove" that her son is actually hers?), or stupid criticism about methods of population control of arctic wolves (if the wolf has a bullet in his brain, do we think he cares where the bullet came from?), it's a new charge of ethics violations based on some of the most asinine allegations.

Absolutely. She personifies the average woman, and the RATS are running scared. She’s to the conservatives what the hildebeast is to the liberals.

They wish.

Holly Robichaud had the story of the frivolous lawsuits Sarah is fighting on her blog yesterday. The “jacket” one was the most ridiculous. There were almost 300 posts from Moonbats. They are most certainly afraid of her.

Yes, having her opposite Obama in a debate and having her mention that a famous civil war general is serving in Afghanistan is something to fear.

I for one will vote against her and canvass as well to keep her from the nomination. Her election is a guaranteed 4 more years of Obama. She will be like Bush where everyone around her will be able to convince her to implement their own personal agendas, conservatism be damned.

She doesn’t have the intellectual rigor and broad historical and economic knowledge to be an independent decision maker like Reagan, Bush I, Eisenhower, Nixon.

The left and RINOs. Because she is in AK - she has not been corrupted by DC. Anyone in Washington, DC has some dirt on them that can be used at the right time. The people in power (we probably never know who they are) will use that information to blackmail people.

Almost any person has some skeleton, politicians have a higher probability of some skeleton. Sarah is probably as clean as they come, smart, tough, pretty, uncorruptable which is what scares them. Newt got the same treatment and he was not totally clean.

She scares them because people and families like her a lot - the silent majority.

I'm not sure how the "left" is defined, but with respect to Democratic strategist, they aren't afraid of her - they love her.

Regardless of Palin's exceptional and iconic appeal and popularity with her base, to the rest of the electorate and specifically the swing voter, she's kryptonite. The Dems understand this perfectly well. So long as they can keep Palin relevant and germane and in the public's consciousness, the Dems can paint Palin as the face of the GOP. This has the much intended effect of alienating the middle-of-the-road voter - the voter that often times elects politicians.

Every time that Palin (or any member of her family, for that matter) is talked about in the MSM, the Dems win. An unpopular statement and I suspect an uncomfortable reality for many here to face.

You're absolutely right - the left, not even the loony left but even just the left and moderate left, are terrified of Mrs. Palin. She is everything they have always claimed to stand for; smart, successful, driven, independent, etc. Everything they've been telling anyone who'll listen is a good thing, what they promote, what they want, yadda yadda. Only one horrifying, terrible problem with Mrs. Palin - she's GOP. Worse, she is an honest-to-God conservative. Gasp! Can't have that! Since Mrs. Palin came to their attention, they have been mercilessly attacking her in any and every way possible. It doesn't matter how ridiculous, how unsubstantiated an allegation may be, they'll run with it. It doesn't matter how low, insulting, or personal it may be, they'll stoop to it. It doesn't matter how much the attack goes against everything they've been claiming to stand for. ie. pretty much the opposite of the MSM's treatment of obama -- they wouldn't criticize him if he sacrificed a virgin on the steps of the White House. It'd be some quaint Kenyan ritual to promote inter-cultural understanding. :-/

The only thing the left has done more fanatically than attack Mrs. Palin has been to idiotically blame former President Bush for just about everything. Probably, somewhere, there's some loon that thinks it is "Bush's fault" that we even have Mrs. Palin. :-) The only good thing that has come out of either of these tendencies is that the left is showing their true colors. They don't really stand behind any issue - they'll drop it, reverse themselves, or sidestep it as the situation dictates. All they are really after is power and control. They want all "the little people" to submit, and they don't care who or what they have to crush to get there.

I agree with you. But she was thrown into the fire before she was ready. Sort of like what is happening right now with Jindal.

I agree with you : What we are seeing from the leftists in the media isn’t fear, it’s loathing. To them, Sarah Palin is less than human-and the contempt in which they hold her is equaled only by the contempt in which they hold everyone of similar beliefs and background (especially re: abortion). That’s why they are are trying to destroy her-because in their opinion, she is unworthy of existence, NOT because they think she’s capable of being a threat . What they are doing to her is what they would gladly do to any conservative and probably to most Christians (certainly to all prolifers).

The left HAS to destroy her NOW so Dear Leader would have a chance.

I;ve said this to people before, let Sanford, Jindal et al, NOT pop their heads up til 2011 while the bulls-eye is still on Palin’s back.

Remember what the left did to Alberto Gonzales because he was - gasp - a PUB? The left lays claims to blacks & hispanics. For the PUB to even consider people in these would and is in their eyes a cardinal sin. Now the RATS want to be THE ONE to inform the world when a woman will be prez or veep.
