Has Chris Dodd ever heard of the Bill of Attainder?
Evidently not.
Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) wants to tax AIG employees on their exhorbitant bonus payments.

Sure he has...it’s the Constitution he has trouble with.
I despise that jerk.
Glenn Beck today on FOX had a very good expose on AIG and the involvement of all these clowns...
Every day we are inching close to civil war.
Make sure you are prepared to care for your family.
Proof positive this nitwit is a solid dunce, like most of the garbage we now have in Washington.
I have been a voice against ALL bailouts since last year when all this silliness started. However, I’m not sure I agree with the general outrage at the AIG bonuses. Bonus programs are a big part of compensation packages in a great many US companies. Generally, at the executive level anyway, the terms of bonus arrangements can be found in the SEC filings of public companies. Other bonus programs include retention and performance bonuses.
From what I can find, a substantial portion of the AIG bonuses are retention bonuses, designed to keep experienced staff in the fold, as it were. While that wasn’t 100% successful at AIG (according to FoxNews), they are still legitimate programs. As such, they should be honored as any other agreement in the corporate world.
I don’t believe that the Treasury was unaware of these plans, despite it being reported that this was information that was not passed on from the Bush administration. Sounds more like another attempt to ‘blame it on Bush’...
Putting it in perspective, the bonuses work out to less than 50 cents per person in the US.
I think the outrage is all smoke and mirrors. Congress and Obama know there is real outrage at the bail out, and there will be hell to pay when they start cramming the next one down our throats so let's demonize anyone else. Limbaugh, Wall Street, AIG, etc. Whatever you do, don't look at what we're doing on gun control, immigration, taxes, health care, social engineering. Just keep hating AIG.
It’s on his list to be taken care of as soon as he gets the money under the table from AIG.
Additionally, we have been told that the failure of AIG would have brought down the entire global financial system. By attacking the AIG executives now, the crooks in DC are basically stating that they are prepared to bring that entire financial system down, just to keep their sorry rear ends out of jail.
Like father like son:
In 1967 he was censured by the Senate for using campaign funds for personal purposes. Beyond the Senate Ethics Committee’s formal disciplinary action, other sources (such as investigative journalist Drew Pearson and Jack Anderson’s Congress in Crisis) suggest Dodd’s corruption was far broader in scope.
Excellent point... Thanks for getting in the discussion.
