P.S. I was looking up A Rip in Heaven at Amazon and came across this book--The Darkest Night: Two Sisters, a Brutal Murder, and the Loss of Innocence in a Small Town. This one happened in 1973 in Casper, Wyoming. They were also raped and thrown from a bridge--one survived. Got good reviews.
