[Great 16:33 minute video where Ari Fleischer ABSOLUTELY PUMMELS Chris Matthews]
Chris Matthews misunderestimated former Bush press secretary Ari Fleisher last night on Hardball. When the MSNBC host attacked, Fleischer gave him a lesson in verbal pugalistics.
The Hardball host had barely said hello when he went on the attack.
What brings you back?, Matthews challenged. Is this the return from Elba? Is this the 100 days of Napoleon`s return from Crawford? What is going on with this network of former Bushies current Bushies, I should say singing the old song?
Well, Chris, Fleischer responded coolly, Im here because you invited me to be here.
Oh, yes, Matthews stammered. OK.
It went downhill from there. Every time Matthews attempted to land a body blow, Fleischer dodged it and delivered a stinging punch of his own. He never backed down.....

I’ve never had strong feelings about Fleischer either way, but man, listening to the audio from this has been a shocker. Fleischer would have been a huge part of improving Bush’s communications if he came on this strong, though of course he wouldn’t. Anyway, Matthews didn’t lay a glove on him, while Fleischer used honesty and truth and just slammed him. I don’t see how anyone could see it any other way—Matthews was demolished here.
This was the fight of the century...and Ari won! That’s what Chris gets for being the mouthpiece for the Left. When you only have vacuous thoughts and lies, you get shredded. No doubt the Kos and Huffington kids are boo hooing about the whole thing. As we still say, “Diddy Whadda.”
Matthews The Blowhard became La FEMME Fatale as Ari kicked the Poop out of Matthews!
I was about to say Chrissy is a tool, but tools have uses. Matthews isn’t good for anything.
But I saw Ari.
He was great! I LMAO when he said "this is what you always do......cut people off, not let them finish their sentences"
There's some impartial journalism right there.
OUCH! that was bad, it was a slaughter
I had heard clips from this but am only just now watching it. Matthews looks like a liar who is caught lying and doesn’t like it one bit. He gets flustered and swerves into this “Nobody was tougher on Clinton than me” and Fleischer carefully explains why that’s only true in the narrowest sense.
Really impressed by Fleischer’s calm and ability to wreck every point Matthews brings up without appearing “mean-spirited,” while Matthews looks old and tired and, frankly, like a BS-er.
This was child's play for Ari. Mere batting practice.
It’s funny to hear liberals point the finger at Bush’s spending....it’s so rich.
Kudos to Ari...he beat Matthews like a drum!
Who the hell is this guy? I don’t remember him, this Ari fellow. Given I wasn’t paying much to politics early on in Bush years. What happened to him? This guy is a great debater and knows how to skewer the reporters

No kidding. I didn’t care for Bush’s spending, but when the libs attack the Bush budgets, and then support Obama for spending so much more, is just...well, dishonest.
Having watched this engagement, I now know why I don’t watch Mathews. He is a pure idealog.
And the grunting and sighs when Ari refuses to buy his portrait of Bush as a liar abour yellowcake. What a freakin child.
The true, bitter chrissy comes out at the very end when he says “we” are glad that there’s no longer an administration that thinks like that, that “we” like he’s some noble journalist spokesman for the rest of us.
I can’t watch him without thinking about his “do whatever I can to make this administration a success” line.
matthews likes to hear himself talk and likes to throw things out there so the rest of us can think he is intelligent. We know better.
