Shame on Andy McKenna, Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party. Shame on the entire party, which seems hellbent on continuing its dismal record of losing elections. Although the Illinois GOP has won more "games" than the Chicago Cubs have over the past 100 years, at least the Cubs can honestly say they've been trying. The Illinois Republican Party seems content to roll over and play dead.
Rosanna Pulido won the Republican special primary election in the Illinois 5th Congressional District on Tuesday, March 3. The election is being held to fill the seat vacated by Rahm Emanuel. You might not know this, however, from looking at the Illinois Republican Party's website (http://www.weareillinois.org/), where there are only two brief mentions of Rosanna Pulido. Pulido will face Democrat candidate Mike Quigley and Green Party candidate Mathew Reichel on April 7.
We're not talking about a minor elected office. We're talking about a seat in the US Congress. Although it is unlikely that Pulido can defeat better funded Quigley, the GOP should at least be touting their candidate in the 5th. Barely a mention on their website. The GOP is making a lot of noise in support of a special election to replace Roland Burris, who was appointed by Gov. Blagojevich to fill the congressional seat vacated by Barack Obama.....

I agree. Is there anything we as FReepers can do to go about running this blockade and getting some funds to Rosanna? This might be a good opportunity to teach the country clubbers a thing or two about cutting off the base? Can we run a special funddrive for her? Coordinate efforts to let likeminded conservatives know and be able to support her, people outside IL and who don't read FR? Anything?

He thinks you don't. He thinks you just pee on the campfire, stink up the joint, and then vote third party so the Dems get an automatic win, everytime around.
I say - get involved at the county level, take over the party for conservatism, one county, one district, one state at a time. We just did this in my county. Replaced a country-clubbish inactive RINOesque county party apparatus with a solidly conservative, active, rearin' to fight group (myself included) of precinct chairs and exec committee members. We may not win many elections in our county, due to how liberal it is as a whole, but we can make a lot of noise, and have an influence on the direction of the state party by rallying other counties to us, etc.
Not on FR.
TQC-—Rosana Pulido is our own Freeper “chicagolady”.

Call Michael steele and tell him to get off his duff and support Rosanna. Why shouldn;t we stick it to the Dems—this the Ballerina’s former seat!
It’s just like the GOP to roll over and play dead—BUT NOT FREEPERS!

I think donations and spreading the word would offer the best support.
Hopefully someone from her team will be here shortly to offer other suggestions. ;-)
The Republican Party can only rely the incredible ineptitude of the Obama machine to anticipate a 2010 take-over. Their own abilities are sophmoric.
Yes!

I’d like to second Velveeta’s excellent suggestion to directly link.
If Rosanna is going to have a chance, it will up to Freepers to help out.
She has a solid conservative record here.
I have donated to her campaign already.
Thanks for the consideration.
Thank you for the critique.
Now, please cough up an idea for a solution.
We’re brainstorming here, NOT rolling over and playing dead.
FR is not a PAC. We cannot raise funds for candidates.

Can you endorse though, or does fall under the PAC realm as well?
I have suggested in the past that if FReepers would like to form a PAC to support conservative candidates, it might be a good thing. But it would have to be a separate entity with its own management team and resources.
Yes, Jim.
I was asking not to directly fund raise, but to offer a link to her site in a prominent place. FR as an entity is not raising the funds.
There could be a disclaimer as well that this is for informational purposes only and not an endorsement.
Would that put us afoul of the rules?
>>So, how do we fix it?<<
That’s easy. Fix it the same way Ronald Reagan fixed the Democratic party.
>>Now, please cough up an idea for a solution.
Were brainstorming here, NOT rolling over and playing dead.<<
I came up with the same solution Reagan did involving democrats.
Part of wisdom is knowing which battles to fight.
The Bible is all about giving mankind enough time to expose itself when it chooses to leave Him.
Sometimes political parties need to be left to their own devices and give time it’s chance to expose them. It is happening to the Democrats even faster than the republicans.
It’s gonna hurt - us all. But trying to change them from within will hurt just as much and, in my opinion, bear no fruit.
I’m choosing my battles. This particular one is not a prudent use of my time.
I think Reagan chose correctly as well.
I think the bottom line is that I tend to err in the direction of John Galt and you tend to err in the direction of Dagney Taggert.
We just see the beast differently and use different weapons.
I endorse and encourage all conservative FReepers who run for office. Wish them well and hope the many threads running on FR help them spread their message. Would love nothing better than seeing Democrats and RINOs replaced by good conservatives.
