Will it backfire? Rush does a better job advancing conservatism than the Republicans do, but he’s not in the congressional leadership. Obama and his ballerina are using Rush as a distraction from their legislative agenda. As Rush pointed out, Democrats are not completely united behind the Obama juggernaut. The question is whether this Rush spat is really helping Republicans or distracting them from what really matters. Republicans need to get the message out about the damage Obama is doing and consider working with the so-called “Blue Dogs” to derail the worst of Obama/Rahm’s agenda. Remember “issue ads”? The blue dogs don’t want the GOP running those in their home districts, seems to me. Rush can take care of himself and hopefully slow down Obama. The GOP needs a strategy for doing the same thing. If they are just getting behind Rush instead of running ahead of him, Rahm Emmanuel may well have a valid point.

Nah, Rush is doing something different--he is demonstrating that the veil of invincibility that has stymied the republicans can be pierced. All that crap about "Oh we all want the President to succeed?" Rush has shown it is unnecessary. He has changed the lay of the land, for the short run at least, if the GOP has the sense to read the map.

By going on offense he exposes the emperor's new clothes. You call out this pansy a-hole excuse for a president and, and--there's nothing there! Just retread Clinton buttboys with the same old dirty underwear and the same old tired act.

Of course, I assume Rush has his financial affairs in impeccable order, awaiting the inevitable IRS anal exam this Spring...

How could Rush be "distracting" Republicans? Republicans are either not paying attention or they worry that the socialists might be right after all. Listen to some other really smart Republicans and right libertarians on the radio- Hewett, Gallagher(well maybe not all of them are smart), Prager, Boortz, even (though Boortz seems to have cleared up his thinking a bit). All of those guys have been accepting the need for the government to "do something" and to spend tons of money, they only disagree about what the government should spend the money on.
