BOSTON/CHICAGO (Reuters) – General Electric Co shares fell as much as 16 percent on Wednesday, touching their lowest point since 1991, as anxiety over a possible downgrade for GE and its finance unit was compounded by an investor lawsuit over a recent dividend cut.

GE shares have lost roughly 79 percent of their value over the past year, compared with a 45 percent drop for the Dow Jones industrial average.

Was there ever a CEO more overrated than the bull market manager extraordinaire, Jack Welch?

“Was there ever a CEO more overrated than the bull market manager extraordinaire, Jack Welch?”

In his biography he sneered at “bending metal and stamping parts” and set a bold course to ditch manufacturing for finance. Way to go, Jack. Trade a fast buck for real economic strength.

Spin off NBC, you crazy? That propaganda machine is their only hope for bailout. I bet they crank up the volume and cheerleader routines at NBC.

Last week I saw that NBC was fourth place in the three way race for nightly news audience. It's working.

They won’t let GE fail. All markets everywhere would make what has happened so far look like a tea party. I look for the gov’t to stand behind this one just like AIG.
