Obama wines, dines and forms conga lines while the DOW drops to 1997 levels The DOW Jones Index dropped to below 7000 today. This is the lowest level for the DOW since 1997 according to CNNMoney.com.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks tumbled Monday, with the Dow and S&P 500 falling to 12-year lows after insurance company American International Group's huge quarterly loss added to worries about the financial sector and the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost almost 300 points, or 4.2% to end at 6763.29, its lowest point since April 25, 1997.

Meanwhile, the party goes on at the White House. The entertaining has dramatically picked up since Obama took office. Apparently, Wednesday is party day for the Obama Administration. Cocktails are often served and once a conga line even formed according to Breitbart.com
WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House is the place to be on Wednesdays.

Cocktails were sipped during at least three such receptions to date, all held on Wednesdays.

The conga line formed after the media were escorted out...

Well, Obie always said he would bring back the Clinton years of prosperity.

I guess 6800 was more impressive in ‘97

...so is our nation. Nero fiddled so that he could rebuild Rome they way he wanted...Obama fiddles for the same reason.

At least it isn’t 1887 levels of volume.... I mean with as much population/product/population as we make, that’d be bad.

“I just moved what’s left of mine to a very conservative IRA.”

If I moved what’s left of mine now I will have lost 70% of the value. I have to hope there is some rebound sometime, so I can move it with a loss of, say, 40%, or, hopefully, 30%. That’s f**king sad, isn’t it? We are hoping and praying to lose what a year ago we would have jumped out of windows in despair over if we had lost what we now hope for.

Right on! The master plan. Destroy the economy, make us dependent, save us with socialism.

Funny how he’s always on tv, hogging the limelight, but not a word from him on the stock market dropping since he got elected.

I lost 50k thanks to AT&T (they changed everyones 401k to all ATT stock...I only had 10%) and 30K thanks to the market, so I felt what I did will protect the rest of what I have left and then if the market goes up in a few years I can change it around...Fidelity was very good in explaining my options....Thanks to Glen Beck, he really opened my eyes.

This red SOB isn't satisfied with just stealing 1 TRILLION DOLLARS from the US treasury, hes determined to destroy everybody's 401K plan to boot.

Exactly what is the difference between this red MF and the 9/11 attacks with respect to impact on the US economy?

It’s worse than 1997, because this is priced in 2009 dollars (which have less value, than 1997 dollars). In real terms, it’s closer to 1995-1996 levels.

Our beloved President will imitate only the worst traits of The Godfather. None of the more sensible.

“My kids, completely serious, asked me if 0 was the anti-Christ.”

I won't go that far, but it does show you how fast one man can become so popular world wide, and people practically fall to his feet. That has always been a mystery to me when reading those end-times Christian books back in the 1970’s A mystery no more. I think that is how I would answer them.
