BREAKING: Not again! Big DC March Snowstorm Set to Greet 'Largest public protest of global warming ever in U.S.!' – 1 Foot of Snow Possible, Bitter Cold, Blowing and drifting snow!

DC under Winter Storm Warning: DC faces up to 1 foot of snow, bitter cold, blowing and drifting snow http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Washington&state=DC&site=LWX&textField1=38.895&textField2=-77.0373&e=1

'Largest public protest of global warming ever in U.S.' set for Monday March 2, 2009 at U.S. Capitol w/ NASA’s James Hansen – Fox News – Feb. 27, 2009

Excerpt: NASA's chief climate scientist is in hot water with colleagues and at least one lawmaker after calling on citizens to engage in civil disobedience at what is being billed as the largest public protest of global warming ever in the United States. In a video on capitolclimateaction.org, Dr. James Hansen is seen urging Americans to "take a stand on global warming" during the March 2 protest at the Capitol Power Plant in Southeast Washington, D.C. "We need to send a message to Congress and the president that we want them to take the actions that are needed to preserve climate for young people and future generations and all life on the planet," says Hansen, who has likened coal-fired power plants to "factories of death" and claims he was muzzled by the Bush administration when he warned of drastic climate changes. […] But critics say Hansen's latest call to action blurs the line between astronomer and activist and may violate the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees from participating in partisan political activity. "Oh my goodness," one of Hansen's former supervisors, Dr. John Theon, told FOXNews.com when informed of the video. "I'm not surprised ... The fact that Jim Hansen has gone off the deep end here is sad because he's a good fellow." “Why he has not been fired I do not understand," Theon said.

Somehow I don’t think this one will get much video play on CNN.

You would think that Al Gore (didn’t he go to -and flunk out of- Divinity school?) would understand by now what a sense of humor God has.

Every time he goes to one of these global warming gigs it snows.

My new slogan is “It’s the sun stupid!” I’ve read where the Martian polar ice caps are receding at a higher rate than the Earth’s. What’s causing that on Mars? Car and industrial pollution going into space? It’s the sun, NOT human activity.

Hansen’s becoming unhinged in his public and official statements to the point where, no matter the wide latitude he’s been previously allowed, he’s bound to become an embarrassment.

He sounds like Sisyphus must feel at dawn.

Excellent choice of graphics!

But remember, it's no longer "global warming" but a "climate crisis."

Yeah, protesting in 4~9 inches of snow... they'll have their own crisis. Ha HA!

The sun has some effect, but not the same here and on Mars. There was a slight increase in solar radiation (0.2%) over the last century which caused a 0.05% increase in temperature (Stefan-Boltzmann law) on both planets which is about 0.15C on earth (0.05% of 288K average temperature). To that you would add feedback just the way the global warming alarmists do for CO2.

More likely the natural variations on earth are due to magnetic effects from the sun. According to that theory, the high solar activity in the 2nd half of the 20th century led to fewer cosmic rays hitting the earth (cosmic rays from the rest of the galaxy). With the quiet sun there are now more cosmic rays and (again according to the theory) more low clouds which are generally cooling. The lack of low clouds last century led to warming.

The important point about all that is that effect doesn't happen on Mars because there is no water vapor to form any clouds.

Wow now - there most certainly is water vapor on mars.

That's tomorrow. Wow, technology is really something these days.

A teeny bit but not enough to condense into clouds like on earth.

Dr. James Hansen needs to get better at predicting short term weather.

Of course, like a typical liberal, when the cooling trend continues as it has since 2007, he will take full credit (in spite of CO2 levels increasing over the same period.) Its almost embarassing except that these AGW buffoons actually have the ability to screw up everyone with their misguided policies.

This is one of the very few times I’ve ever looked forward to a snowstorm. It is much better than raining on their parade.

That's a pretty special event down that way. I spend a great deal of time in North Carolina, and they're due to get about half a foot and businesses are already making contingency plans for tomorrow! Pretty amusing for those of us who are used to just plowing on through the white stuff, 4-wheel-drive style.

Hope you're doing well, Bill. It must be pretty nice having grandkids to call and visit. Me, I'm pretty down today because my dad died 14 years ago this day and he never got to see his grandkids. So... I'm drinkin' a little whiskey and listening to my favorite country songs, especially the ones he loved.

I'm thinking too about the awful direction of this country and trying to figure out the best way to get and stay involved. Our company's travel budget is pretty much non-existent this year, so unlike last year, I'll be spending a lot more time in New Hampshire. Maybe we can get together and strategize over a beer or two one of these days.

Regards,

Andy
