Vicious Babushka has just as much, no, more education and experience than Rochelle Mancini and Herbert Lazarus, but has worked in the automotive industry instead of the "non-profit" book-shuffling old-Left entitlement world, so, can't claim benefits or a paycheck from doing from Babushka does FOR NO PAY anyway.
Did Nathaniel Popper ask himself about "Jewish layoff justice" when he conspired, with his muckraking employers "The Forward" about the thousands of families who would become destitute once he achieved his objective of destroying Agriprocessors, Postville IA, and the families of shochtim, mashgichim, slaughterhouse employees and yes, the "undocumented" workers of whom "The Forward" claims to be the champions?
"The Forward" which claims to be "The Nation's Jewish Newspaper" does not allow "talkback" or "feedback" on their pages. There does not appear to be any way to contact "The People's" media outlet. You can "contact" their "letters" section, but "The Babushka" will publish your letters in the Comments and maybe if we get enough feedback "The Forward" will pay attention.
You're fired.

Somewhere there’s a moyel joke in this thread...
Give your workers kosher pink slips, but not on Saturdays.
I think it’s to call `em a “scmuck”, whap `em upside the head, and say “Get outta here!” ;)
I don’t know about a specifically Jewish way to go about it, but there is a humane way, a way that attempts to avoid causing any more hardship than necessary.
It may only work for small to medium size, nonunion employers, but cally them together. Explain the circumstances. Lay out the costs that are going to need to be removed from the company’s overhead, in order to survive. Lay out the steps that have been taken elsewhere, and lay out what that means for total employment. Ask for suggestions, in public or in private. Some may prefer to have everyone’s hours cut back, rather than lose somebody. Some may volunteer themselves, due to having resources to support themselves above and beyond their salary, or a well paid spouse.
It doesn’t have to be like an axe falling out of the blue. A little compassion goes a long way.
Something like this:
I’m sorry Bibi, the economy is in the tank, with no end in sight. I have to reduce staff and expenses where I can. Unfortunately,Bibi, you’re one of those today.
The Daily Forward speaks to Jewish concerns, but mainly from a Communist perspective.
I’ll always be grateful to them for having given us Isaac Bashevis Singer. And I suppose there have been other valuable contributions as well that I’m not familiar with.
But Judaism isn’t really compatible with Communism, any more than Christianity is.
I know things are going to be tough for the next few years, but with some hard work and dedication we can make it.
How many of you voted for Obama? Raise your hands.
You're fired!
Yep.
Sounds like the termination process could be a violation of some federal and state laws, specifically the COBRA law, that allows employees to continue coverage for 18 months, as long as they pay for it.
And yes there is Jewish law that would be applied in terminations, you know that, no? It varies on the circumstance, but this termination would seem to abrupt to have taken any of it into account.
The Forward has always been baxckwards. It is a fine paper to wrap fish in..
I think it is “ironic” that “The Forward” which claims to represent “all the Jews in the USA” does not have any “feedback” or “talkback” on its pages.
My local Israel bonds office cut several workers, older women with years of experience. I felt bad about that. So I held off reinvesting some funds with them.
Have a gentile do it?
I suspect this is covered in the Talmud. I haven’t read it. I bet these folks haven’t read it either.
“How many of you voted for Obama?”
LOL! Between Obama & Madoff we’ll be lucky if we have two nickels to rub together soon.
I’m just waiting for my Obama voting boss to complain about his taxes. Of course I can’t fire him, he’s my boss!
