The Democrats have criticized Bush for big deficits, and contrasted with how Bill Clinton had a balanced budget in his last year, I think it was, as president.

Why did deficits matter so much when Bush was president, but don’t matter now under Obama? Why does it not matter that the deficit under Obama will be much larger than under Bush? Are Republican deficits the only ones that matter?

The President does not create Deficits.

Only Congress creates Deficits

Section 7 - Revenue Bills, Legislative Process, Presidential Veto

All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

I'm sure you know as well as I do. It's not about the spending as much as what it is spent on with the left. And they have so many whacko groups there to try to appease by throwing $$$ their way...
