I didn’t think viruses affected your harddrive. I thought they infected software.

It was a Trojan, not a virus. It recurred each time I rebooted. I could not find the source anywhere on the hard drive.

If I unplugged the network cable and rebooted it did not pop-up on my Symantec monitoring at all, but as soon as I pugged in the network drive it would download the Trojan from the web.

Finally found a command line cleanup utility that killed the beast. It is fine now.

I have done this type of cleanup for years and never had this much trouble cleaning it up.
