Ayers Under Fire

The Support Bill Ayers petition has now garnered signatures from thousands of academics and other citizens in support for former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers, but Ayer’s reputation in academia may not be so rosy after his time in this year’s election spotlight.
“It seems that the character assassination and slander of Bill Ayers and other people who have known Obama is not about to let up,” the petition states. It sports 4,291 signatures as of this writing. “While an important concern is the dishonesty of this campaign and the slanderous McCarthyism they are using to attack Obama, we also feel an obligation to support our friend and colleague Bill Ayers.”
“Many, many educators have reached out, asking what they could do, seeking a way to weigh in against fear and intimidation,” it reads.
Not surprisingly, Ayers, a University of Illinois at Chicago professor, is exporting the same rhetoric while traveling the academic lecture circuit. He is due to speak with former Professor Ward Churchill and activist Derrick Jensen at the University of Colorado-Boulder on March 5, just four days before Churchill begins his jury trial in the Denver District Court.
The panel, entitled “Forbidden Education: The Rise of NeoMcCarthyism,” is being organized by Students for TRUE Academic Freedom, the Student Environmental Action Commission (SEAC) and the One Hundred Eighty Degree Shift at the 11th Hour. They argue that the panelists’ “presentations will unveil the mask of liberal academia and link Churchill’s fight with other scholars who have been attacked for their strong beliefs.” ...

Ayers shouldn’t be under fire, on fire sounds reasonable IMHO.

He doesn’t have to worry. He has the support of millions of leftists, journalists, movie stars and college professors, as well as the entire obama administration.
If you are truly against intimidation as you say, you could stop supporting terrorists like Ayers as a starter.

Huh. Guess he shouldn’t have started the Weather Underground and plotted to make us all slaves in a communist state. Maybe he shouldn’t have set off those bombs. Maybe he should have respected the flag. The truth is what these people fear most. Like cockroaches, they scatter when the lights come on.
4200 signatures is chump change. I bet Freepers could come up with 100 large.
As we now know, McCarthy was correct!
All we know for certain from this particular whacko article from the ever dependable leftwing, lesbian zealot, Bethany Stotts is that there are at least 4,291 brain-dead members of American academia.
My thoughts exactly!
Ayers is now proclaiming that Obama is making a monumental mistake sending more troops to Afghanistan.
How long before the msm begins attacking Ayers.

Bill Ayers assassinated his own character decades ago by resorting to violence and exhortations to violence in furtherance of his political goals. Innocent people died as a direct result of his actions. The fact that he continues to this day to feel no remorse for these deaths and to maintain the correctness of his actions says all that one needs to know about the kind of man he was and is. It is a blot on the character of higher education in this nation, and on the character of the University of Illinois at Chicago in particular, that Bill Ayers has a job teaching young people anything at all.
