Anything else is a waste of time that will end up wearing you down and getting you nowhere. Don't threaten to get one; just hire someone from a firm that is experienced with medical malpractice, someone that you're comfortable with and, more importantly, someone that will be an all-out streetfighter. Hospitals, doctors, and their insurance companies will have legions of attorneys, all of whom are hired to protect them from liability when it comes to cases like yours. Even the playing field.
