If the ideal is to stop criminals by tracing who purchased the ammo I wonder if they have brass catchers outlawed in this bill? Doubt it. Even if they do, not that hard to make a homemade brass catcher. Also, the bad guy might actually just bend over and pick his brass up after shooting someone. Or, the bad guy just might use a revolver.

Is there any reason to encode .454 ammo? I don’t think there is a pistol that shoots this ammo. This is all just so stupid and aimed at the law abiding citizen, not the criminal.

They are welcome to all of my ammo that they can catch as it exits the barrel of my M-4.

“Also, the bad guy might actually just bend over and pick his brass up after shooting someone. Or, the bad guy just might use a revolver.”

Precisely.

The problem is that most of the people who write these bills have never spent any time on a range.

That, and a supervised reading of the Constitution should be required for anyone who wants to pass gun legislation.

These are all good points and ones that had occurred to me when thinking about this bill. The reasonable doubt defense due to codes that are from the other side of the country or simply another person is a good one and one that will most certainly used by good, sharp defense lawyers.

I would suggest that jury decisions in many of our cities would go to the defendent.

The bill or bills are a disaster waiting to happen, and I personally will vote against anyone who supports them.

There are several alternative ways in which ammunition can be curtailed. To start with are prohibitions on its components.

Primers, for example, can be difficult to fabricate, and also difficult to insert into casings. So them, as well as propellant, will be the top target of the anti-gun groups. Efforts will likely also be made to prevent the manufacture of casings in the typical ammunition calibers.

And there is a big difference between “just” ammunition, and quality ammunition. Efforts will be made to raise its costs, curtail its quality, and force the use of adulterants to the propellant, as well as prohibiting the use of lead ammunition.

Then there will be efforts to take out as many ammo makers as they can, license every stage of manufacture, distribution and sale, such as requiring “personal ammunition retailer” licenses, with annual renewal and high fees. And taxes everywhere.

I’m a peaceful man, but anyone who tries to take my ammunition is going to get them, one round at a time. At what point do free people, having come to the realization that their government no longer represents them, act to defend the rights that their ancestors fought and died to protect?

"The problem is that most of the people who write these bills have never spent any time on a range."

There's that famous picture of Chucky Schumer shooting what looks to me like a MAC 10. Also I remember reading that former Congressman William Jefferson (90,000 dollars in the freezer fame) was a big anti-gunner and when he got convicted the authorities came and confiscated his large firearm collection.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think their goals are more sinister. I think that a lot of these characters (for sure, some of the ones fall in the ignorant category as you suggest) know these things we are talking about. However, they don't really want to get rid of guns, just restrict them to those that can afford them such as the ruling class. They don't like you and I to have them.

The best way to preserve these rights is to get as many people as possible interested in owning firearms.

.....and Obama has already started this for us.

Remember that most of the people in the heartland are veterans. They have been trained by the best. The easiest way to accumulate supplies is to take it away from the enemy. As long as they have ammo, we have ammo. Think about it. We also have anything that they had, including their fun toys and new guns. If this all goes down, then O becomes our supply sergeant.

Sweet, that must be one heckuva pistol. Okay, but there can't be a pistol that shoots S&W 500 right?

“I dont think that people in this area at least have the least qualms about going to Revolution II in a heartbeat. It will be another shot heard across America. It will then suck to be any public employee who thinks that they are loyal enough to want to “enforce the law”.”

Unless you have a way to fight more effectively than the Taliban, the outcome to killing a couple of LEOs that have turned on the people will be very predictible. “We the people” are behind the eight ball where tactical gear and technology is concerned, and the important first part of Rev II is going to be gearing up. I think that now, while we can, personal contingency plans need to be to sorted out; just in case.

LOL!! That's a hilarious line. I hope he also becomes our armory sergeant. I'm putting my order in now for a Barrett M 107 .50 cal rifle.

Another point I maight add is that practice ammunition would become very expensive for municipalities and this is a current issue with many of them.

So, once they think about it, I suspect that they will oppose it.

Your points are very well constructed and they are good enough to convince a left winger that the bill is a bad idea. It would open individual police to numerous lawsuits while protecting the criminal and since left wingers like big police control, they should reject it.
