"Who knows what God has planned for these children? Perhaps tomorrow the mother will marry a millionaire who has longed for a large family all his life, and will provide for them...God does not make ‘accidental’ children—He has special plans for each and every one of these precious children."

One HOPES those children will have good lives, but we need to consider the practicality of the situation. There are many scores of children born each day. Some have good lives, some have horrible lives.

"I find it a bit appalling some of the comments about sterilizing her, etc."

I really don't. She can't take care of the children she currently has. To bring 8 more into the world is beyond irresponsible. The doctor that AGREED to allow her to be implanted is even more guilty in this regard. That is malpractice. Where was the responsibility here ? You wouldn't logically implant that many embryos in a woman who WAS a stable individual with a healthy income and marriage.

"Those children aren’t going to suffer—"

You don't know that. You can't make that claim in a logical way. You HOPE they don't suffer, but I don't believe this lady is playing with a full deck. She has no business with 6, let alone 14. She shouldn't have had ONE child until she was either married or capable of being financially independent. In acting so recklessly and selfishly, she has demonstrated behavior antithetical to being a sound and responsible parent.

"there’s going to be people out there helping her out, regardless of whether or not she looks like Angelina Jolie or whatever...who gets to decide how many children she should be allowed to have or that she gets sterilized to prevent her from having any more?? Are we living in China now?! :-("

China permits one. This lady had 14, no husband, no job. You cannot tell me under any circumstances that makes any logical sense.

Look, I'm not agreeing with what she and the doctor did in any way--I just don't like all this "she's ugly", etc. comments plus the ones dictating how many children she should have been 'allowed' to have--that's just wrong. No one knows the future except for God, and if she can't take care of these children, they will be taken care of by someone else--they are famous now and there are many families out there willing to give these children stable and loving homes--that is what I meant by 'not suffering'. BTW, her doctor didn't "implant" her--her doctor simply TRANSFERED 6 embryos from a petri dish into her uterus via a catheter. After that it is in God's hands, the doctor/s have NO control over whether or not a woman becomes pregnant after IVF. Having done 6 IVF procedures myself, I am a witness to this. I agree with those angry with her doctor though--putting back such high numbers of embryos in a young, healthy FERTILE woman was highly reckless and unethical, IMO, and he should lose his license. He should also be made responsible for the financial needs of all 14 children as well! The comments are correct that the taxpayer shouldn't have to pay for her babies/children--my opinion is that they aren't "mistakes" but blessings, no matter what you feel about the mother's behavior.
