Leahy wants “Truth Commission” to investigate Bush administration

Speaking as if he had stepped out of the pages of George Orwell’s novel 1984, Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy said he wants to appoint a “Truth Commission” to investigate a whole range of decisions made during the Bush administration. He says it’s not intended to “humiliate” people, but to discover the truth.

Specifically, Leahy wants to look into detainee abuse, politically-inspired actions at the Justice Department, and matters of Iraq prewar intelligence. “I’m doing this not to humiliate people or punish people,” Leahy said, “but to get the truth out.”

“And after we get the Truth Commission going,” Leahy added, “we’ll start construction on the re-education…I mean summer camps for the Republicans…I mean defendants.”

Very scary stuff but you get what you vote for and as a nation we put these people in power. They will start to stifle speech soon, watch as see.

We still need a "truth commission" that starts with the Viet Nam War.

This Leahy puke was the youngest Senator ever from Vermont. He was elected in 1975. Certainly we can find him involved in Congressional attempts to coverup war crimes committed by the Kennedy/Johnson gang.

We can hang him for that Fur Shur.

So, yeah, just tell Leahy "We want that too, but it has to start with 1961, and we work our way through your guys first."

Can’t they find some crime Leahy has committed? Seems so easy with the Dems.

Comrade Leaky has got to be near the top of the kongressional despicable list. When we come with the pitchforks and torches he’ll piss himself and cry like a little girl.

Leahy is a pathetic, wannabe Stalinist who wants to have Stalin style show trials where he gets to sit in judgment over men who are better than himself. He must feel really important thinking he is the arbiter of truth. Leahy wouldn't know the truth if it bit him in the ass.

Senator Pat Leahy was annoyed with the Reagan administration’s war on terrorism in the 1980s. At the time he was vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

-”Leaky Leahy,” allegedly threatened to sabotage classified strategies he didn’t like.

-Leahy ‘inadvertently’ disclosed a top-secret communications intercept during a 1985 television interview.

-”The intercept … made possible the capture of the Arab terrorists who had hijacked the cruise ship Achille Lauro and murdered American citizens. …”

-”The reports cost the life of at least one Egyptian operative involved in the operation.”

-In July 1987, it was reported that Leahy leaked secret information about a 1986 covert operation planned by the Reagan administration to topple Libya’s Moammar Gaddhafi.

-U.S. intelligence officials said Leahy, along with the Republican panel chairman, sent a written threat to expose the operation directly to then-CIA Director William Casey.

-Weeks later, news of the secret plan turned up in the Washington Post, causing it to be aborted.

-A year later, as the Senate was preparing to hold hearings on the Iran-Contra scandal, Leahy had to resign his Intelligence Committee post after he was caught leaking secret information to a reporter.
