> He said, furthermore there are so many soft targets in the United States, like a shopping mall, why would Al Qaeda go after a hard target like a federal lock up or military prison, when they could choose a soft target.
Is your President truly that stupid, or is he being perverse?
Why wouldn’t al Qaeda hit a soft target — like a kindergarten, for example — and then threaten to hit another soft target unless all of the prisoners are released?
It can be argued that they could have done that while the prisoners were on Gitmo: it’s true, they could have. But by waiting until they are on US soil, they can play the States against the Federal Government.
The prisoners have to be kept in some state or another: whether it be in a federal or state penitentiary it matters not. All al Qaeda need do is choose soft targets in the state the prisoners are kept in, and voila! It’s State-versus-Feds to let the terrorists go.
“Is your President truly that stupid, or is he being perverse?”
That’s a tough one. Does it have to be A/B or can I opt for C - all of the above?
A.
