The air seems a little cleaner in the nations capitol today. Lib talk radio is dead in the District of Columbia.
WWRC-AM had marketed itself as Obama 1260, proving that the FCC doesnt consider stupidity to be sufficient grounds for revocation of a broadcast license. The station has now flipped to a business talk/news format.
Losing affiliates is nothing new for Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Bill Press, Ron Reagan, Rachel Maddow and Lionel. But the loss of the Washington, DC market is a particularly harsh blow for liberal talk radio, because the format is rapidly running out off major markets in which it can be dumped.
Miller, often referred to as the rising star of libtalk, has ...

this will be used as a reason WHY the un Fairness doctrine needs to be put back in place. If the market isn’t working, then the gov needs to step in to make sure libs are heard on the radio. but then again, can’t wait to see who PMSNBC hires to rebut Queef Ogreman.
If it can’t make it there, it can’t make it anywhere.... (with apologies to Francis Albert himself)
Yeah, a liberal talk show in a liberal market, and it can’t make it.
I hate to see liberal radio die. I believe it is enlightening to voters.
Most mainstream America Democrat voters only support Democrats either because they always have or they are politically clueless. The garbage spewed by liberal radio really does not support their core beliefs. Given time, voters might hear enough of the liberal crap that they see how badly they have been wasting their “always have” and “clueless” votes on people who are socialist, anti-American, morally bankrupt and hateful.
Looks like they are getting upset about this over at the DU. :)

Wow.
If Liberal talk radio can’t make it in D.C., I doubt it can make it ANYWHERE. Except maybe SanFran...
They had to buy the time.
But that's OK, because they were to add a third show middays, syndicated, in January. That show never appeared. And now the two shows that were on suddenly disappeared last week (word was that the station, which is mostly sports, was in "negotiations" with the lib group). But fear not, they'll just bring back the Fairness Doctrine (after all, Debbie Stabenow's hubby is long associated with libtalk--no conflict of interest there, eh!) and force it on, thus displacing successful conservative talk shows.
They're licking their lips at the thought that someday we'll tune in to hear Rush and get Ed Schultz or Thom Hartmann instead.
Meanwhile, Boston conservative talker Howie Carr was tied for first in his afternoon drive time slot last ratings period. But it's all just a right-wing plot, eh?
Typing in "Obama1260.com" now gets you this. A station that actually wants to MAKE "money".
>>cant wait to see who PMSNBC hires to rebut Queef Ogreman
but that’s on a network, AND it’s cable. The rules probably do not apply, so I’ve been told.
“In five years, we’ll be on 500 stations.”
—Air America’s Jon Sinton, in 2004. It’s five years later.
They’re on a few dozen, maybe. Big lib cities like Boston have little if any “prog talk” on air (see above).
Take a look at the comments I pulled from a DU thread I and put in a comment in our article. Here’s the comment:

>> My rightie "friend" send me this link [IHTM] : Liberal talk radio dies in DC today. They are really enjoying this. Bastards
HaHaHaHa!!! I hope they come over to the article and discuss the Fairness Doctrine with us.
Air America ripped off more than 500 poor children though. Stole their money.
Air Americas Jon Sinton, in 2004. Its five years later.
I'm trying to find a source for the quote to use in something. Do you have one?
I occasionally stumble across 960am here in the Bay area, usually when Ed Schultz is on, what a deceptive individual he is.
He just relocated from Fargo to DC.. Glad to see he is running out of places to spin his liebral crap.
This quotes a Boston Globe article from 2005. He may have
said “600 stations”. The article came a year after Air
America debuted (nationally) on 4/1/04 (it hit Boston in
Oct. of that year). The piece is by the Globe’s Mark
Jurkowitz
>>’’So far our batting average is pretty high. I see no reason to slow down or stop at all.” Slowing down isn’t in Air America’s plans either. ‘’In five years we’ll be on 600 radio stations,” Sinton boasted. ‘’The brand will be pervasive, and I think it will be a quaint memory when people said, ‘Boy, what a stupid idea.’ “
The Globe’s ‘05 article may also be found here:

The Globe article was picked up elsewhere, like on the link below. So far it’s the only actual mention of Sinton’s
prediction that I can find.

Thank you very much for the links!
you’re welcome! yeah I want to make sure you can back up
that quote!
