No, I wasn't. I'm used to dealing with drama queens who are sure that THIS SITUATION is the worst one EVER!!! Then they say all kinds of silly things getting themselves all worked up. Sometimes saying, "Think about what you just said," makes them pause a moment and realize they are perhaps over reacting.
Here is the thing: It certainly isn't right for a mother to post suggestive pictures of her daughter online. No, I don't know where her head is. It is HIGHLY UNlikely that anyone would see that girl's picture online and try to track her down and get her. It's possible, but really unlikely. Much more commonly, a perv might use that picture to excite himself. Gross, totally. But it's some random stranger perv and the girl or her mom or us will never know it's even happened.
The MUCH more likely thing to happen with this bozo mom is that she will bring home random boyfriend who tries or succeeds in touching the daughter. That occurrance isn't somehow "better" than anonymous perv jacking off to her picture because mom can finger the guy at the police station. The girl has actually BEEN endangered and harmed by one situation where she wouldn't even be aware of anonymous perv.
It's isn't reasonable to equate an event that is incredibly rare (online perv sees girl and tracks her down) to an event that happens probably numerous times a day in the US (mom brings home scummy boyfriend who advances on her child). That is why I tried to stop you and get you to think.
A few points:
I have no idea what you are talking about re: “drama queens.” Concern and passion are not the equivalent of drama. As for you being “used to dealing with drama queens,” I am not sure how that relates to the concern I originally aired but maybe you need to get some new friends (?) if you have problems with drama queens. It’s a somewhat trendy and overused term these days.
My second point is that you either did not carefully read my post or you just forgot (easy to do on FR when one is scanning through), but the MOTHER is the one posting sexually suggestive pics of herself as a come on to men - and the site is a public site (i.e. not set to private)with pics of the daughter also posted - the kid in front of the house - with her stuffed animal and so on. The child is not in suggestive poses.
My contention is that a woman who will create a public MySpace viewable by the public (millions and millions of people) exhibiting not only herself but with special attention being given to particular body parts which would attract fetishists and so on, yet also on the same site posts pics of her daughter and her daughter’s name and other details is taking serious chances and it is the daughter who will pay the price, not even the loser mother.
Furthermore, it is (to use your term),”HIGHLY UNLIKELY” statistically that I would be attacked or raped if I walked alone at night, while dressed as a hooker, in an area filled with drinking establishments. In fact, it is “HIGHLY UNLIKELY” that most females will ever be raped in their life times, but that does not mean people should participate in high risk behavior. As my stats expert friend once said to me, “If it’s you, it’s 100 percent.” So, “likely” and “unlikely” are vagaries best left for talking about the weather or other benign things; not sexual assault, molestation, abduction, and a host of other evils.
In the meantime, I am wondering about how you know so much about what a pervert may or may not do. I am not so educated about the inner or outer lives of degenerates. Are you a probation officer or psychologist or an expert in sociology? I am not so cocky about playing guessing games with the quirky or bizarre. Enough internet disasters have been publicized for me to realize that it this is a serious issue and will probably continue to cause problems. Just one child being harmed is enough for me to want it to be addressed.
And finally, you do not need to get me to “stop and think.” I think very well, thank you.
