Congratulations Michael Steele - RNC chair.

If you recall, doubt that you do, I put forth my support for Michael Steele the second I learned of his interest in running for RNC chair. I believe, although it is difficult to prove, that Duncan screwed the pooch and under his watch the GOP lost tremendous ground. Therefore it was imperative for the GOP to acquire new leadership and this was done today. Although Steele is dubbed centrist (perhaps incorrectly), he is for the most part a very approachable conservative man. His is eloquent, genuine and extremely personable. His task right now is to mobilize the Republican base and in my opinion, take over lost ground. States that traditionally voted red like North Carolina and Virginia should NOT be swing states.

Mike Steele has been as conservative as a politician can be in the la-la land of Maryland. I believe he is somewhat more conservative than he has shown, and that he will make an effective Chair.

He ran a smart campaign for Senate, and ultimately lost due to racism of Maryland blacks. They wouldn’t vote for an “Uncle Tom”.

It has been fun watching them squirm when I get them to admit they voted for Bambi because he is black, but wouldn’t vote for Mike Steele.

You are absolutely right and I think that accurately describes his centrist labels.

His senate loss is indicative of this country. They can elect an empty suit, a phony a marxist punk, but not Michael Steele. Disgusting rather.

Steele is exactly why the GOP needs to die off and let something new happen.

Fester in the Ozarks....while we keep faithful and support a much more conservative leader of the RNC than we had in the past.

#####

Exactly right.

His embrace of Affirmative Action is reason one why he should not be heading the RNC.

A number of people are making negative comments like “Erik in the Ozarks”, that know nothing about Steele. I would bet you few of them even knew who he was yesterday. I would have to admit I didn’t. Which is why I am in wait and see mode. I hope he is exactly what the RNC needs.

“Although Steele is dubbed centrist (perhaps incorrectly), he is for the most part a very approachable conservative man.”

It’s funny how LMSM calls Steele a centrist when he’s a conservative, and Kirsten Gillibrand (Hillary’s replacement) a centrist, when she’s a liberal.

Some conservatives were already to support antilife Gillibrand because she threw conservatives a few crumbs (probably in order to win in a conservative district).

And some conservatives are so angry with pro-life, conservative Michael Steele, because he is not “perfect” in their eyes.

I can’t help but wonder if LMSM has influenced their decision in order to divide conservatives. It’s happened so often in the past.

As someone in Ohio, I was a strong Blackwell supporter - a "take no prisoners" conservative" to energize the base and get the GOP back on a conservative track.

That said, after watching the Hannity interview, I'm more confident Steele will be a true conservative leader. I do HOPE he stands up to obambi and all the socialism coming our way.

I wasn’t familar with Blackwell until the months preceeding the election. I was very impressed. He definitely has a place in the GOP and hope to see more of him.
We need more people like Steele and Blackwell stepping up to the plate.

OT: whatever happened to DeLay’s legal issues?
