One can’t reflect upon the recent changing of the guard in Washington, without recalling the previous one. And in this instance, one can’t judge the previous guard without bringing up Hurricane Katrina.

The left also got away with shifting horrible decisions from an incompetent DEM mayor and DEM governor to Bushie and his team.

We know it is, my point was, enough people believed eyeliner Shephard wetting his pants on TV, and that contributed largely to the election of a Ray Nagin clone, Barack Obama.

The media and the DNC used Katrina to get back congress and elect a democrat to the White House. It was based on a sham.

The truly irritating thing is when you try to explain to a Liberal boob that the President is not authorized to send aid or troops unless the governor of the state requests it.
Their stock answer is that "Bush should have gone in anyway."

It always comes down to one of the most glaring disconnects between conservatives and liberal loonies (y'know, Us & Them);
They simply DO NOT understand, nor have they likely even read The Constitution of The United States of America.

These days, I start any such discussion with a Lib Loon by asking a question..."By the way, have you read the Constitution?"
If they lie and say they have, you've got them. If they don't lie and say they haven't, discussion is over before it starts...Thus keeping my blood pressure at an acceptable 130/80.

The insufficiently maybe even untold story for New Orleans is the years of levee funding that went to corruption and waste under almost continuous Democrat administrations in the city, county and state levels. When Katrina initially hit, EVERYTHING was OK. It was the levee failures that developed the real disaster as the flooding became unstoppable.

The media saw disaster and asked where was President Bush, not Mayor Nagin or Governor Blanco. What a crock - blame the rescuer of LAST RESORT (National Government) not the FIRST RESPONDERS (City, County and State) that FAILED!!!

Yep. My argument isn’t with you, it’s with the boneheads who want to blame the Katrina debacle on Bush.

the Governor of Louisiana refused to allow the National Guard into the flood zone for many hours Not hours. More like a week.

She was just following orders from her DNC masters in Washington.

“Blanco’s non-response was calculated to give the president a black eye”

Are you saying that the Democrats denied aid and endangered people during a natural disaster, just for political purposes. Because, if the non-response was orchestrated, that is exactly what they did. I did find it strange that the governor relied on the Clinton FEMA director instead of attempting to work with the administration, it was also evident from the onset that the MSM had no interest in honest and accurate reporting. Here is an example of the biased reporting associated with Hurricane Katrina http://slate.msn.com/id/2125224/

As I recall, within hours of the hurricane hiting New Orleans, the left was blaming Bush for it. “if only he had signed the Kyoto Accord”. “The mere fact that he had signed the Kyoto Accord would have prevented this hurricane”

I’m scared to death if they take over health care (maybe that’s a good thing).

Well I remember the video clip of Blanco whispering into an open mic that she didn’t send in the National Guard because she didn’t want to put people in harms way.

This statement can be taken several ways...

That our National Guard, who were serving in Iraq but also working stateside, were babykillers who engaged in war crimes (anti-military rhetoric from the Left)...

That the National Guard would impose a “police state” on the good people of Louisiana...

That the National Guard would be endangered by encountering a violent civilian population in Louisiana (post-apocoplyptic mindset that did nothing about gang crime and police corruption)...

Or perhaps she was afraid of having “outsiders” see how things “are run” in New Orleans and elsewhere in Louisiana (like payment for police who didn’t really exist).

Just look at the Motor Vehicles Department in your home state, that’s what government run health care will be like..

Boneheads, indeed. When Shep was weeping on the air, screaming about snipers, I thought I was Lewis Carroll, it was that bizarre, watching events unfold with Shep carrying on like a little girl..

I think it was, at least, partly because she didn’t want outsiders to see their mess (MSM did yeoman work on helping her) and partly because of their laxidasical attitude and their indecision. A blogger was posting from scanner traffic during the storm and reported that there was very little radio traffic until the National Guard arrived on site (National Guard reported instances of well over an hour when LA Homeland Security could not be contacted) but it was busy after that (by noon the day after the guard arrived the Calvary was arriving). It was also clear that the Democrats were playing games Pres. Bush was being pressured to declare Martial Law but LA would not agree to it, Pres. Bush then sent in Federal Law Enforcement (primarily US Marshals) to help restore order .... guest you could say he declared Marshal Law. I believe this little episode will cost the MSM and the Democrats in ways they don’t expect, far too many people were not fooled.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

The rats have had a long history of doing just this.

They don't care about the welfare of The United States of America. They're only interested in having power.
