Welcome to the 111th Congress

Just days into the start of the 111th Congress one merely has to peruse the wide array of Congressional Bills that are before the current Congress to get an idea of which direction our elected representatives wish to drive the Nation. (it looks like another left turn to me) Those wishing to view the bills have the ability to access all of the information via GPO Access.

Of particular interest to me personally was H.J.RES.5...Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
The bill was sponsored by Rep Jose E. Serrano (D) (NY-16)
The other bill of particular interest to me was H.J.Res. 9...Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to abolish the electoral college and to provide for the direct popular election of the President and Vice President of the United States.
The bill was sponsored by Rep Green, Gene (D) (TX-29).

It perturbs me to no end that with all of the pressing problems our Nation faces that these two men, probably of their own accord instead of at the behest of their local constituents, have the temerity to submit these bills. That one of them is a fellow Texan and lives about an hour away infuriates me further and I hope that a good number of Citizens who live in his district vote his happy posterior out of office when he comes up for reelection in Nov. 2010.

While it will be interesting to see where these two bills go their intent is the main thing I would like to bring attention to. I simply can't envision anyone proposing a bill like H.J.RES.5 eight years ago when Bush was POTUS. Just thinking of more than two terms by POTUS Obama makes me want to vomit. Why not propose to make the new POTUS King, which, IMO, is exactly what Rep Serrano really meant.

And while the attempts to do away with the electoral college are nothing new we see once again the desire by some to do away with something that is detrimental to the desires of power. Though the attempt has failed numerous times in the past the call, nonetheless, is renewed once again with no explanation of how this will benefit the Nation.

I hope that folks will keep a close watch on the bills coming before this Congress as they will continue to give all Americans an idea of just where the bus is going.

Lastly, I would like to give a KUDOS to Rep. Candice Miller (R) (MI-10) for H.J.Res. 11 in her continuing efforts to return to what the Founding Fathers intended.

Oh BTW, before I go, I would like to ask anybody reading this to take a look at the wording in H.Con.Res. 23, sponsored by Rep Lee, Barbara (D) (CA-9)...Expressing the sense of the Congress that the tax giveaway since 2001 to the wealthiest 5 percent of Americans should be repealed and those monies instead invested in vital programs to relieve the growing burden on the working poor and to alleviate poverty in America.
My, my, what interesting wording. And how petty they sound.

Barbara Lee is a Communist voted into Congress time after time by the fools living in Berkeley and Oakland.
