The FEC has been told by the courts to allow campaign money to be spent on these sorts of things (legal defense, election challenges, etc). I have no doubt he has spent some amount of campaign money on this which he has more than enough of

I seriously doubt he's spent any extra money on it. Routine motions like the ones he filed are usually covered by the retainer, and he's got to have lawyers working on retainer to handle all his other legal matters.
