You can p[lay your best by practicing things that don’t run up the score so much. Things like a set offense or half-court defense.

High school basketball is not just about winning. It's about sportsmanship also. Obviously the coach couldn't understand that let alone teach it to his players.

continued a full court press and fast break offense One "holiday season" my (new wife) and myself returned to my in-laws home . . . my father-in-law owned a ping pong table. We played over the next 10 days. He lost every game. My wife 'cut me off' one night and said "why don't you let daddy win a game?"
I said because he didn't win a game!
Almost 50 years later I have not understood the concept of "throwing" a game.

It is so ridiculous, I can not fathom the firing. What he is supposed to say don't play your best, the other team might cry. High school sports aren't just about winning. They're supposed to teach sportsmanship.
A coach who racks up a 100-0 score isn't really teaching the values a high school sports program is trying to instill in its students. He created a whole bunch of bad publicity for this school, so it isn't suprising he was shown the door.
