now would be a good time to offer that paper to the NYT... ...while it's still around. ...because if there's anything at all that will help the NYT survive, it's more liberal paranoia pieces.

Today I heard he either had 6 million, 12 million or 20 million listeners (depending on the right wing hag bag talking). The 6 and 12 million numbers were in the first few years of his current show and he never went back. The 20 million has never been disproved, just whined about by the left. They wail and gnash their teeth about how unfair competing in the free market is.
I love how those libs constantly bash the "evil" company Clear Channel yet CC basically gave Air America around 40 stations for affiliates doubling their numbers overnight.

OK someone needs to come up with a political cartoon with Obama as Captain Ahab and Rush as the White Whale...

military industrial complexI thought that phrase went out of style about the same time as the word "groovy". For some, I guess the "Summer of Love has never ended.

Heh— boobooday’s academic paper is crap. See one DUmmies OneNote and Formerdittohead have to say—they tear his thesis apart.

Have the DUmmies ever considered what the TROOPS want to hear on Armed Forces Radio? Oh, please. Like the troops are smart enough to make that kind of decision.
And I can say that about our troops - I were one. ;)

I was having a discussion with another DUer about Rush, and referred to him as a failure. It was pointed out to me that he was the highest-rated radio talk show host. So you learned the difference between a loser and a success?

Rush is a product of a vertically integrated media market. Oh, SNAP! I was way off, dude. Rush has been called a lot of things in his career, but I'll bet that's the first time he's been called a "product of a vertically integrated media market." What a BURN! You NAILED him, man!

Who told us, early on, that Rush was a media sensation/phenomenon? Rush probably did. It was one of them there self-fulfilling prophecies.

The ABC Evening news The same ABC that was the first network to use an edited interview to assassinate Sarah Palin's character?

This is the story of Rush Limbaugh, a sad, pathetic nobody sportscaster who grew into a sad, pathetic tool of corporate media. Why is this man smiling?

Yes, my paper was about the consolidation of radio. I called it "The Canary Died." Yeah, that metaphor was what killed it.

now would be a good time to offer that paper to the NYT That would probably DOUBLE the number of people who've read it.

I had an offer to publish the original paper in an academic journal (I presented it at a conference, and it was very well received) and like an idiot, I didn't follow up. I'm sure it isn't the first time a paper didn't get published in an academic journal because of a bag of sweet, sticky weed, and it won't be the last.

That's Ed Schultz's point, that Rush is sustained by ownership, not ratings. And Ed Schultz is sustained by stealing baloney sandwiches from the homeless.

Now would be a good time to pull it back out and make it ALL about Rush, and look for a publication people (besides academics) read. I'll bet if you sent it to Rush, he'd read it on air. Guaranteed to get laughs.
