I have such fond childhood memories of summer holidays in the Swat Valley in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province, a place well known among Pakistanis for its breathtaking views, cool summer climate and lush fruit orchards. But today the Swat Valley is experiencing heartbreaking pressures, as the Taliban strike with disconcerting regularity and, among other atrocities, impose a ban on the education of girls.
Even before this ban was put in place on Jan. 15, more than 100 schools for girls in Swat, as well as more than 150 such schools in the greater Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), had been shut down, many after being bombed or torched, leaving approximately 100,000 girls out of school. Radio announcements warned girls that they could be attacked with acid if they dared to attend school, and teachers have been threatened and killed. Last Monday, five more Swat Valley schools were bombed.

ISLAM is doing this. ISLAM is blowing up their schools, killing their children, abusing their females.

The rules the Taliban are following are from ISLAM.
I have no pity on people who are committing ritual, ‘religious’ suicide.
It is not Islam it is the Taliban, and their demand for Sharia Law. The Pakistani government and the women of Pakistan need the global community to stand up with them and demand that women have their freedoms returned.
Again — where are the millions of dollars that could help women in a positive manner — not with abortions?
Sharia Law is the platform of political Islam. Political Islam is pure evil and must be stamped out wherever it appears.
It IS Islam.
Where is Sharia Law from, Buddhism? Christianity?

ISLAM is the source of the death and destruction and hatred in these villages, and in the world.
Saying it’s not ISLAM that is the killing evil here is like saying sickness does not result from drinking polluted water. The poison comes from the SOURCE.
It is ISLAM the Taliban are brutally enforcing, no other religion- and if the evil they are doing were not from their ‘holy book’, and preached by their ‘holy men’, they would just be common criminals.
Instead, they are following the dictates of ‘god’ through their ‘religion’.
You can no more divorce Islam from the Taliban than you can rip the evil dogma from the pages of the evil Koran. Muslims won’t let you- it’s PART of Islam. So they have to live with it.
But we don’t. And the rest of the civilized world sure as hell won’t!
Their own religion is torturing and killing them- ironic justice if you ask me!
So you buy the arguments that the Christian faith is evil based on the likes of the Spanish Inquisition and all those throughout history who performed atrocities in the name of Christianity?
Just because there are some men getting it horribly wrong —that is not a justifiable condemnation of Islam as a whole.
Here we go- I can see we will be at an impasse here.
Of course I don’t think the Christian faith is evil based on the Spanish Inquisition. Those were brutal times for EVERYONE, and that is IN THE PAST for Christianity.
Islam was brutal then- Islam is brutal NOW. Islam’s evil is VERY current.
And the ‘some men’ are not getting Islam horribly wrong. They are interpreting it very correctly. They are following the dictates of Islam, as it has been taught for centuries and as it is still being taught today.(unlike Christianity).
Christianity has progressed out of the dark ages, Islam has not. How many Christians are in pulpits demanding- and approving of- the deaths of non- Christians and Christians who do not obey the Bible literally?
The Koran- Islam itself- is being obeyed, literally, by the ‘radicals’. They represent Islam at its most pure and basic, and it seems they are determined to get the ‘slackers’ into line-USING their unchanged Koranic dictates.
There is no ‘new testament’ of the Koran, moving beyond the ancient, brutal dogma- no rethinking preaching love and tolerance. There cannot be. EVERY WORD in the Koran is considered holy and unassailable- even the evil the majority of Muslims say they disregard.
You’ll get nowhere with me by comparing how brutal Christianity WAS centuries ago to how brutal Islam IS now.
It is not Christianity that is terrorizing the planet.
However it may be that we might have to go medieval on Islam to stop its horrors. I do believe a Second Crusade will be needed, Islam has gone beyond all reason now.
I’m not saying *I* believe that about Christianity — but there are jamokes who *do* condemn the Christian faith based on the actions of a few individuals. They are wrong to do so.
I understand and share your concerns about the evil that is being assailed upon us by those claiming to be “true” muslims — I do not know enough to be exact, but my understanding is that they are getting it wrong — that they take incorrect interpretations and run with them.
Just how prevalent it is, I do not know, but I understand that they are stirring up hordes of vulnerable young men. They are callling for our death, clinging to past battles that are centuries old — a never-ending cycle of violence and vengeance.
I know we are at war — I know the fundamental jihadists are the biggest threat on the face of the planet (Al Gore has got it ALL wrong!)
My point is — there are peace-loving muslims. Let’s not lump them all in there too. We do not want to alienate them, for they must play a part with us in stopping the violence. They must stand up and say no the the Taliban and sharia. We must support them — not turn them against us, too, by condemning all of Islam.
