Agree. But, we can’t let ourselves be held captive by 0DS and blast him for every minor mistake-real or imagined. We just have to hit him every time he does something with which we really disgaree.
On the odd chance he does something we like, simply say, ‘it’s a good start, but he didn’t go far enough.’ In other words, run the James Carville playbook against him.

I like the point of your 2nd paragraph: it’s a great way to put it in partisan manner.
The thing that bothers me - I don’t want to come across as “unhinged” either - is that being unhinged WORKS in today’s political field. It seems as if being reasonable has become unreasonable. We no longer do successful politics by reason, but by histrionics. The biggest hissy fit wins.
We are a dumb down, amoral culture today. It’s not just, “We’re becoming one”; we ARE one.
The question Republicans need to ponder is what to do about it? How do we win the day for sane policies in an increasingly insane world?
And I’m kind of saying, “Sometimes a real hard punch in the nose has a way of restoring common sense and decency.” Or, “I respected my parents because my dad whooped my ass if I didn’t.”
We’re letting Democrats win because an endless string of temper tantrums is what seems to win today. Time to take ‘em to the woodshed.
