PRESS RELEASE: “News Platoons Taking Internet by Storm” Florida News Platoon is Launched!

On Tuesday, January 20th Florida News Platoon will be joining four other state Platoon sites. The website, www.Flordia.NewsPlatoon.com, will work to promote local government transparency and accountability, provide a news platform for local activism networks, and aggregate the top news stories happening across the state.

In wishing the News Platoon the best of luck with the launch, State Representative Brad Drake (FL-5) stated, "It's imperative to have added media outlets so that Americans can be included, in the words of news commentator Paul Harvey, in "the rest of the story."

State Representative Dean Cannon (FL-35), also a strong supporter says, "I am excited about the potential that the News Platoons hold for the future of communicating conservative thoughts and ideas to the people of Florida. Those of us who believe in promoting common sense solutions for the issues we face in our state will now be able to use the News Platoon to rally like-minded individuals together in order to more effectively spread our message of hope and opportunity for each and every Floridian."

The News Platoons are a product of the #dontgo Movement (www.dontgomovement.com) which uses web-based strategies and tactics to advance free-market values. Its mission is to develop a fifty state strategy of blogs and internet social networks that would activate more free market conservatives in their communities leading into the 2010 elections.

#dontgo was created by Eric Odom and Allen Fuller.

I like the idea. Looks like it’s not quite ready for prime time, but that’s OK.

From where is the moniker “#dontgo” derived?

#dontgo is twitter kool aid.

Basically, a bunch of people “follow” each other while never reading a thing written.
