Wish I could be there to welcome back someone that I consider an American Hero! He may not have made all the right decisions, but no one is perfect. He made the right decisions when it came to matters that no one else had the guts to deal with. God bless him and his wife!

It is a wonderful idea. The must be a certain let down after the inauguration of Obama. Their leaving where George and Laura have been living for 8 years.

This is a great way of having a celebration at a place where there are true lifelong friends and a BIG WELCOME.

Smart move; and Midland will make a huge response.

West Texas is very proud of the President and Mrs. Bush. We will welcome them home with a crowd. They are good people and we know it. If the rest of the world see’s them in a different way, that is their problem.

We know them and we love them! They will feel it when they arrive in Midland on January 20th.

I wish they would televise Bush’s welcome home party instead the destruction of the White House.

“I wish they would televise Bush’s welcome home party instead the destruction of the White House.”

I refuse to watch 0’s inaug just as I refused to watch his election night speech.
I love seeing the expression on people’s faces when they ask “what I thought of the historic speech, etc” And I just shrug apathetically and say ‘guess I missed it”

Ditto!! And I'm so glad to hear that a Welcome Home celebration is being planned for them! I miss them already. One only needs to watch President Bush in an interview, or speaking before our military, to see how deeply he cares. He speaks from the heart. I'll be wearing black on inauguration day. Not only is Obama wrong on the issues, he can't hold a candle to President Bush when it comes to patriotism and integrity.

the values of 50+ years ago are real down to earth true values that work for good. It is getting to the point where these values have largely disappeared.

The Bush family had wealth from the first ‘President Bush's’ father ( a Senator), and possibly before that.

The wealthy as a rule grow up with a liberal point of view. Always wanting to take money from the taxpayer and give it to others less fortunate.

LBJ was the same way only he wanted to BE THE BEST PRESIDENT EVER. So he was a bit of an exception. There were others. There are always exceptions to any generalities.

Still the whole northeastern part of the nation is essentially liberal. Especially the large cities (across the nation); but not limited to them.

In our heart we do not want people to go hungry, or be homeless, or to suffer without medical care. I don't. It is the way that welfare is given/wasted in thousands of programs, where the cost of administering these programs is exorbitant, and the corruption is so high that the programs themselves are not adequate to cover these costs. RIDICULOUS.

Anyone that is able mentally can do a service ... answer the telephone, keep records, provide a service to others.

If all that are on welfare ... after the age of 16 ... had to contribute their time and effort to doing a job ... regardless of whether they wanted to do so or not: continuing to do so until they no longer receive welfare. I know ... what about all the babies born whose mom receives government child support? The same principle could apply as soon as a child enters school... there are extenuating circumstances. Day care provided amidst the Moms themselves. teach them budgeting, nutrition, etc.. We would have more responsible people that actually desired to better their selves.

This sitting at home watching TV, hanging out with gangs, drinking drugging, participating in crimes, etc. would be diminished. The check coming in the mail does not inure change or personal responsibility in anyone.

During my lifetime the press, news medias of all types criticize and twist the facts in ways that make conservative values seem to be for the RICH. Backward, old fashioned, will not work, are selfish, uncaring, etc. You get the idea.

What is true Jesus Christ Himself received the same treatment. We must stand fast.

Talk to those we know with facts, history, the long view,... it is difficult to open a closed min; and for whatever reason liberals are liberals right or wrong. It is all about winning, to heck with all the corruption, waste, lies, (on both sides). This will quickly lead to an unrecoverable state of affairs ... that the former way of life will disappear as we know it. We are joining the ranks of socialism, which does not work, communism, which does not work, Marxism which does not work ... exception being for the elite in power that live like and believe they are KINGS!

And we are leaving what does work ... according to the Constitution, A REPUBLIC. We are not a DEMOCRACY. Rather a Republic with Democratic (of the people, for the people, and by the people)form of government. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Are you ready to be enslaved? ... the wheels are turning ...

Wish that I could be there to welcome him home! I will be watching on Tuesday only because of President Bush. Once he leaves Washington D.C. the TV goes dark.

They will leave ASAP the swearing in is over with. Flying straight to Midland. I am guessing it will be closer to 3 or 4 when the President and Mrs. Bush show up in Midland, but many of us will be waiting and happy to see them land back in Texas. Temps in Midland on January 20th are expected to be near 71 degrees. It will be a warm welcome home.
