“From what I have read, Hawaii has merely said that the original document is on file. Nothing about its content. Have you found something further on this?”

See http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/11/obama_hawaaianborn_citizen_for.html for November 3, 2008 report that Hawaii Department of Health Spokeswoman confirmed that Obama was born in Hawaii.

To be precise, when asked whether the Director’s official statment meant that Obama was born in Hawaii, the spokeswoman replied:

“Yes,” said Hawaii Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo, in both email and telephone interviews with the Tribune. “That’s what Dr. Fukino is saying.”

Thanks for posting that. It’s the first I’ve seen it. I’ve seen the other stuff but not that particular quote. It does give pause that the spokesman had to say what the other person was saying because the other person didn’t really say it, that kinda thing. And, of course, there’s this big giant question of why zer0bama doesn’t just produce the document. If it’s a matter of it not being available to him then he could just file that in an affidavit in one of the 17 cases winding their way through the court system. Heck, he could even turn around and sue the Hawaii Dept of HorseHockey and put all this on them. I suppose we’ll all find out in a few days when the SCOTUS conferences on Berg v Obama, but I doubt it.

Newbie, which ought carry the greater weight, an official release on paper from the department or the hearsay from an employee working under the director? I think that is what ‘plausible deniability’ is made of, an official release contradicted by a verbal assertion by an underling. Very clintonesque I’d say, very deceitful.

Here are more nuggets of wisdom from the site Sibre Fan linked to, and note the date - I think the Prof Volokh was corrected later and admitted he didn’t have his facts right, and also note that 0bama’s campaign spokeshold said the COLB posted on the websites was authentic, so now we know it was! Also, this is the very first place I have seen it said that Okubo said that 0bama was born in HI, does anyone know more about this? Out of context, outright lie, accurate quote?

Seeking to squelch persistent rumors that Sen. Barack Obama isn’t eligible to become president because he allegedly was born outside the United States, a Hawaiian official has confirmed she has “personally seen and verified” that the state “has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate” - meaning Obama was born in the Aloha state, and is therefore an American citizen.

Does this mean Obama was born in Hawaii?
“Yes,” said Hawaii Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo, in both email and telephone interviews with the
In the Tribune’s political blog “The Swamp” last month, reporter Mark Silva produced a copy of Obama’s birth certificate and addressed the birthplaces of both presidential candidates.

The issue of whether Obama is a “natural born citizen”—which means “a citizen at birth”—was raised in a June 10 article on the conservative Web site World Net Daily.
Hawaii was a state in 1961, when Obama was born. Any person born in the U.S. automatically is a “natural born citizen,” said University of California Los Angeles law professor Eugene Volokh.

In June, the Obama campaign released an electronic copy of the certificate bearing the seal of the State of Hawaii Department of Health and showing that Barack Hussein Obama II was born to mother Stanley Ann Dunham in Honolulu at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961.
Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said last week that the document was authentic.
And now, so has the state of Hawaii.

No, that is NOT what it says.

That is what it is TWISTED to mean.

But you know this Sibre Fan and ironically I don’t see you posting often unless BO’s COLB is brought up.

I KNOW you have had this information pointed out to you before, several times.

The Dept of Health did NOT release a statement saying that he was born in Hawaii... ah hell, I’m not going over it again.

Thank you for that. It is the first time I have seen it.
Last quote I saw from the folks in the HI Health Dept was that the law prohibited them from confirming anything on the cert.

As I have long said, my feeling from the start has been that Obama was probably born in the U.S. but doesnt want his original cert to be public because of some piece of information on it. There has to be a reason he would spend millions of dollars fighting this thing rather than spend 10 bucks to release the original cert.
