To: allmendream
It is making distinct that of man which is material (dust) and that of man which is immortal (soul). It is quite a simple sentiment, but I imagine it might be hard to see if you are intent on mistaking it for a literal magical creation from dust.

And you think a hot steamy primordial pot of pond scum is any less magical as origin of one single cell that heated up so much it split into two parts and then kept regenerating itself until it became 'human'. Right.

IF you recall Moses was NOT some dumb sheep herder he was raised up under the royalty of the Pharaohs and would have been keen on a bit of worldly understanding when he penned Genesis.

And was Moses writing for himself? Was the message he wanted to convey the details of the early RNA world and how all things had come about due to his forbearance and infinite patience and gently guiding and yet unseen hand, such that he raised mankind from nonliving matter into a being worthy of an immortal soul; or was it that man was mere dust until God wished to bring him to life?
