The intensely partisan debate over foreign policy of recent years has overshadowed one area of broad bipartisan consensus: Americas efforts at public diplomacy in the post-9/11 era have largely failed.
Public diplomacy is, in essence, the way that we, as a government and as a people, present ourselves to the rest of the world how we explain our values of freedom and democracy and why we believe they provide the surest path to long-term peace and prosperity.
Of all the opportunities that incoming president Barack Obama can seize, none is more important for long-term U.S. national security than the chance to set public diplomacy on an effective course.

The world gets America’s message well enough, hence the terrorists’ many attacks and our illegal immigration problems. There is apparently much to gain by either attacking or sneaking into America. It ain’t like we need to advertise to such.
America has done nothing BUT scream the message, Personal Liberty and Freedom with an armed citizenry and a limited government.
Your Lefty friends, imbedded in our mdia have done everything BUT scream America is good.
America has not ceased to be good ... we have been trumped by a louder voice.
What a terrible message we send. Is that why we are invaded by immigrants every day? I don’t see too many people trying to escape the US. The lefty media just doesn’t get it.
