Youve had 2 threads pulled for solicitation. Posting the links is ok but this is not allowed.
Resumes - Jobs Guaranteed Only $99-If youre not HIRED, well refund your money AND pay you $50!
Thanks, AM ___________________________________________________________
I am NOT connected in any way shape, form or fashion with the resume website that wants to pay people if they are not hired.
This "solicitation" as you call it, is for FREEPERS WHO ARE OUT OF WORK, not myself. I am retired and have no desire or need to work.
I was attempting to help fellow FReepers which you apparently don't want me to do. So, if you care about other FReepers who are LOOKING FOR WORK, put the threads you pulled back up.
If people are hunting for a job there’s 9 million sites out there to help them do it. I’d ask that they get dumped too, regardless of the poster’s intentions or affiliations.
Your intentions are good, B4Ranch. Of that I have no doubt myself. Just try to avoid even the appearance of posting spam links for profit. That’s what the problem was, rightly or wrongly.
I’ve seen posters put web addresses in their taglines before. Something along the lines of “Looking for work? See my profile.”
I have a link to stuff I’m selling on mine.
It’s Jim’s site and he has a rule about solicitation. Just post the sites without the $99 resume link and you should be fine. If anyone wants help, suggestions or links, FReepmail me.
FWIW — one suggestion you offered has resulted in a nibble. Considering the time of year, that’s encouraging, so thanks.
If you are looking for a job use Indeed.com as the vertical jobs search engine. (no I do not have a vested interest in Indeed, com). The site is where I refer candidates to look to see if the work they are looking for is indeed (pun intended) in their location. Basically the website scrapes jobs off all websites (Monster, Careerbuilder....corporate websites) and puts them all in one spot. You can even set up email alerts so that when jobs post that meet your skill set, Indeed emails you and lets you know. Best site for this type of search. Use the advanced search feature. Search off keywords and leave the location field blank. Take special note of the locations listed in the far left column. This shows you where the work is! So you can go where the work in your skill set is being done rather than hoping that something in your specialty opens in your area.
make that 3
That’s a great site suggestion, “Indeed.com.”
Mods, please do not put them back up.
Oh just freakin peachy. Like I didn’t need all the help I could get. Things have changed between my hiring at a great job 15 years ago and and downsizing this year.
Thanks for your efforts, B4. Greatly appreciated by someone who despises this fad of shotgunning personal info over the dadgun internet to only God knows where just to apply for a job.
I hope you have a blessed Christmas, FRiend.
I’d have to say that, despite my fondness for fellow Freepers, this is a site for political, religious, economic and philosophic discussions. There are plenty of avenues on the Internet for job-seeking. We probably don’t need to clog up FR with want-ads.
B4Ranch painstakingly gathered quite a useful list of online job sites and resources. I, myself, contributed indeed.com and simplyhired.com to the list, since I had quite a scare due to my business collapsing earlier in the year, and found those two the most helpful to me. The only mistake B4Ranch made was putting a paid resumé link in the last few.
Why on earth would you not want this posted?
Job loss is economic, BfloGuy. But, if you don’t want to see it, don’t click on the thread.
Beware of the seemingly casual telephone interview. Don't let your guard down and get too chatty. Make no mistake, you are being interviewed, and answer carefully. You'll likely also be asked if you have any questions. Consider those very carefully, too. This is being used to weed down the list of candidates who are called in for face to face, traditional interviews.
“Resumes - Jobs Guaranteed Only $99-If youre not HIRED, well refund your money AND pay you $50!”
Beware of scams.
True, and thank you.
I too contributed to the threads that B4Ranch put up, and also had a side-bar conversation with him and several other Freepers who are currently looking for work. Many others also contributed good tips on those now pulled threads.
The only 'violation' that B4Ranch may have committed was in posting the links to the "$99 resumes." Even at that, as a "violation" it was exceedingly minor as my own interaction with him on these threads and via FR Mail indicated to me he was sincerely trying to help others here on FR.
As our economy continues to tank, and more and more people are looking for work this holiday season, I'm asking the Admin Moderators to please put those threads back up. Edit them to remove the "$99 Resumes" if you want, that's fine. The value of those threads were in the links to good job sites, the tips that many freepers contributed to those threads, and the expressed good will that many of us have for those who are in the unfortunate position of having to look for work this Christmas.
As a freeper of some 10+ years now, I'd greatly appreciate the Admin Moderators restoring those threads so that those who are looking for work have resources available to them here on FR, and are able to receive some encouragement from the rest of us as well.
In these days, if we Conservatives & Freepers can't lean on each other a bit, then who can we lean on?
Thanks for putting up the job threads.
I WAS looking and went to many of those sites.
I accepted a job on Friday and start in January!
Anyway, did I tell you I got a job? Woohoo!
Thanks again.
I am about to throw in the towel and go get a graduate degree.
