As the grant dollars were being disbursed to FORUM, the Illinois attorney general filed a civil lawsuit accusing the charitys founder of engaging in an unrelated kickback scheme. Just days after the suit was filed, Obama quietly returned the $5,000 in donations. I didnt want to be associated with money that potentially might have been tainted, he said. FORUM founder Yesse Yehudah, who unsuccessfully ran for state Senate against Obama in 1998, denied wrongdoing and, without admitting guilt, settled the attorney generals lawsuit by paying $10,000 to a charity. He declined to comment. In 2001, for example, Obama steered $75,000 to a South Side charity called FORUM Inc., which promised to help churches and community groups get wired to the Internet. Records show five FORUM employees, including one who had declared bankruptcy, had donated $1,000 apiece to Obamas state Senate campaign.
So, Obama landed a $75,000 grant for Yesse Yehudahs charity while Yehudahs associates arranged large contributions to Obama, at a time when he was hurting financially because of his expensive challenge against Bobby Rush for a seat in Congress. Obama was broke. Yehudah took the $75,000 grant, while giving Obama a cut of it as payment for diverting this state money to Yehudah.
The article above says it was only $5,000 but thats just the money Obama returned. He actually received $10,000 from Yehudah associates and the money changed hands the same day the state grant came through.
Obama only returned the money once he realized Yehudah was being investigated for something else, and wanted to cut himself out of any investigation.

He always “returns the money” whenever the other person gets caught. No one need look further than Rezko. In exchange for the Obamas’ land deal, Obama wrote letters and pushed for Rezmar to land deals. Davis/Rezko even bought city property for $1. The money was then funneled into Obama’s campaigns. That even has nothing on the hospital that was funded or the public retirement plan.
