Agonizing Republican Dilemma: Tim McGraw To Run For Tennessee Governor
The Patriot Room ^ | December 12, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Being a Republican country music fan, this saddens me. But it is not as tough for me as it is for Tennessee Republicans, who may have to make the difficult choice between party loyalty with Bill Frist and voting for McGraw just so his wife, Faith Hill, can be the First Lady of Tennessee.

Good luck with that.

I’ll take McGraw (and his better half) over lilly-livered RINO Frist any day.

She's pretty but... no thank you. Tim McGraw’s comments about New Orleans made me just hate him.

Tim needs to keep singing.

I remember when this stuff came up a few years ago on FR. and we found a story about Tim whining about how poor he was during his childhood, and how his family got robbed when he was a child and they took the VCR. Only problem is, when Tim was young (mid to late 70’s) most poor families could not afford VCR’s in the first place.

She's going to have to learn to sit down like a lady if Tim is to have a political career .

A couple of big liberals? No thanks. They are good performers and should stay in that business.

Poor? His father was a professional baseball player whose team won the World Series two years after Tim was born. It might sound better is you want to be a country music artist (oxymoron alert), but he wasn't poor.

From 2005.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1557700/posts

His mom and stepfather divorced when he was in the fourth grade, leaving her to raise him and his two sisters.

“She worked two or three jobs at a time,” McGraw told The Associated Press in 2004. “I can remember being 11, 12, 13 years old and getting up at 12 o’clock at night and my mom sitting at the kitchen table with the bills spread out everywhere and not even knowing I was there with her head down crying. And then the next day the VCR being gone. It’s stuff you grow up with, but you learn a lot from that.”

Maybe this celebrity can destroy Tennessee in much the same way Arnie did California. He is, after all, very popular, and so is his wife. Seems like we already have some Republicans on board because his wife his willing to show the World her posterior. What’s not to like? What could possibly go wrong?

This is a joke right? This uneducated over paid overrated RAT and his limo lib wife should join up with the Dixie Chicks and start their own country and leave us alone.

Sounds like his mother took the VCR to the pawnshop, not that their home got robbed.

I had heard about this, but we’ve got a problem of no clear-cut choice for Governor in 2010 in TN. It’s likely to go Republican, of course, but I’d like to see someone that will sign off on the massive changes the GOP will begin enacting starting in January to undo 140 years worth of Democrat damage and chicanery. I do NOT want to see Frist as Governor, as he demonstrated rank incompetence as a Majority Leader. He was fine as a backbencher and his skill as a heart surgeon unquestioned, but he’s not a political leader.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Fred Thompson take a run for it, though one potential dark horse candidate is Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, who could be a Palinesque-style Republican Governor. She led the fight as a State Senator to stop the imposition of the infamous (and illegal) income tax.
