I was 11 years old and we were pretty broke. I got The Bobsey Twins go to the Country. Meanwhile, I had just finished reading “The Grapes of Wrath”

Yeah, 5th grade year my Grandmother got me the Sesame Street Letters book. I don’t know if she misunderstood my mother when she said I was in the gifted class to mean I rode the short yellow bus.

That reminds me of the time my son got in trouble for reading “The Odyssey” in class while they were supposed to be reading “There’s a Girl in the Boy’s Bathroom”.

I glad we got him out of public school.
