So, now the real question...

Could you kill off the conspiracy theory by doing so?

LOL, the "real question," the real, burning question for you in all this, is about killing off a conspiracy theory?

And your anwer is "no?" We'd never have guessed. And, here we were, thinking the real question is about Barack Obama's eligibility for office.

Sigh ... I guess we should just throw in the towel now, since we can't kill off the conspiracy, lol.

No, the real question is, could Obama really have masterminded it all?

We only know about the COLB issue at all because people who operate outside the Washington machine took it upon themselves to wade through Obama's entire life story and see if they could find ANYTHING that would cast doubt on his suitability. More to the point, it appears that if Obama has indeed lied about his birth status, everyone Stateside who's EVER known the truth has stayed silent without being paid to stay silent. (There's no way on earth that he could've bought them all off; for starters he can't possibly know who knows the truth).

Apart from a couple of very distant foreign relatives who could simply be saying he was born in Africa because they gain local kudos for saying it, all we have to go on is a flimsy internet copy of an allegedly legitimate document as a "smoking gun". That's from people without the resources that the political elite, from the Clintons to the Palin camp, had access to. While the prospective Presidential candidates on all sides hunted for dirt on Obama, none of them touched the ONE thing that was staring everyone in the face, and could easily have been proved or disproved - his constitutional right to stand.

Here are three possible explanations of how this constitutional crisis might've evolved:

1. Obama announced his intention to run for office some 22 months ago, his legitimacy was already under question, but for the next 12 months everyone in the political establishment - in the Clinton camp, in the Republican camps, and in Washington - did nothing about it because they never thought he'd beat Clinton, let alone the Republican candidate. Obama eventually gets wind of it and rushes out an update to his website instead of taking the unprecedented step of FULLY disclosing his birth certificate. This feeds the flames of the conspiracy theories, but it's not enough to counterbalance the utter incompetence of the McCain campaign. Result: Obama wins, just as the question of his right to contest the election at all reaches its peak.

2. Obama announced his intention to run for office some 22 months ago, nobody expected him to defeat Clinton so he wasn't challenged by the Democrats, none of the Republican candidates' campaign teams picked up on it either, and that's how come his right to stand wasn't thought through, let alone formally challenged, until after he was formally recognised as the Democrat candidate. By which time, overturning 20 months' worth of campaigning on the basis of a check that should've been carried out on day one, would've thrown the country into a constitutional crisis. So, Washington decided it was too risky to do anything about it.

3. Obama was capable of devising a foolproof plan to nominate himself at a point when he didn't have a hundredth of the resources the Clintons had, accumulate half a billion dollars from small donations and foreign sponsors, pay off the media and every possible witness to the fact he wasn't a natural born American, steal the Democrat nomination from under Hillary's nose, wipe the floor with the Republican candidates in every head-to-head (almost as if the candidate was throwing the fight!), register millions of FTV and illegal immigrants on the understanding they'd vote for him, AND convince hundreds of thousands of lifelong Republicans that it was time to switch...

The first two options are more realistic. Obama probably succeeded because complacency, incompetence and malfeasance on the part of his opponents as well as the machinations of his allies, engineered the climate that allowed him to "win".

The third one is a doozy. If Obama is that smart and that lucky, then God help all Freepers, because he's got four whole years to figure out how to get most of us to vote for him next time.
