You can always count on David Horowitz. Check out some of the comments on the original article. There are some good arguments.

“You can always count on David Horowitz.”

You can always count on David Horowitz for what?

> Conservatives are supposed to respect the organic nature of human societies.

That isn’t in any definiton of “Conservatism” that I am aware of.

> Ours has been riven by profound disagreements that have been deepening over many years. We are divided not only about political facts and social values, but also about what the Constitution itself means.

Only if you take the “Constitution is a living document” approach to the Constitution. If you instead take the Constitution at face value it is reasonably straightforward.

> The crusaders on this issue choose to ignore these problems and are proposing to deny the will of 64 million voters by appealing to 5 Supreme Court Justices

Yup. As the 2002 election amply demonstrated, the Rule of Law trumps the Will of the People, every time. If you do not like the Rule of Law, then the Will of the People can change the Law, using processes that the Rule of Law puts in place. It’s simple, really.

> (since no one is delusional enough to think that the 4 liberal justices are going to take the presidency away from Obama).

I’d like to think that the “liberal” justices would do what is right for America on such a fundamental issue. That might be naively optimistic, but I think the Supreme Court deserves the Respect and Benefit of the Doubt.

> What kind of conservatism is this?

Proper lowercase-c conservatism.

The Birth Certificate Constitution zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil.

fixed it.

Everything is speculation until the original birth certificate is seen. Sure, Obama probably is perfectly eligible to be president. But that’s the whole point, “probably” is not good enough.

Who cares what the arguments are in these various suits, every argument has validity when it’s guesswork without the facts on the table.

There has got to be more to this than any of us know, why else is the entire government, left and right, legislative, executive and judicial, all scared to death to ask for a birth certificate? My guess is they have already seen it, including possibly the president himself, and we never will.

I don’t think this whole birth certificate mess is going to go anywhere. But I think it’s telling about Obama that he could have blown this out of the water very early on by simply providing the correct documentation...and he didn’t. It shows an arrogance, a “how dare you” mentality, that I don’t think will be a good thing in the coming years, for him or for America.

NONSENSE. Anytime your have to make your point by claiming the US Constitution is a technicality you really have no real point, just politics.
The is no disenfranchisement because there would be no vote. If the person was not qualified under the LAW (the Constitution) then that fraud is what invalidates the election not the people that believe the law should be enforced.

Eff you Horowitz, if Comrade 0bama has nothing to hide, he wouldn’t be spending six figure sums by hiring three law firms to conceal his birth certificate, his school and medical records, and anything else that might give some clues about his bonafide to serve as POTUS.

You want to roll over and let the 0bamunists p*ss on the Constitution, you’ll have to deal with REAL Americans who believe that document is still worth fighting and dying for.

GTF out Horowitz, you coward.

“The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality...”

Umm, yeah. Essentially that his how things work in a constitutional republic that follows the ‘rule of law.’

And I'm trying to think, if W had had a similar issue, would the Left have just ‘let the technicality slide?’

I'm thinking no. So, whatever hell they have and would have put us through, that's what I want to put them through for the next 4 years.

So is respect for the U. S. Constitution.

“Conservatives Need to Shut Up About the Birth Certificate”

On the contrary, What needs to happen is for the present day journalistic community to recognise that ordinary citizens now have the ability with the advent of broad internet use to make their voices heard on such important issues that are reported on. And that it can no longer be assumed that the average individuals mindset can easily be manipulated into believing erronious news stories no matter how they are reported on. Journalism today must begin providing total pertanent facts upfront in their reporting techniques. No longer are individuals satisfied being fed short factual information relevent to events related to their every day lives.
As I see it, one of two things needs to happen. Either (1) Journalism needs to begin being truthfull and up front with its informational facts or (2) the internet needs to be shut down. Simple as that.

Horowitz is absolutely correct despite the grumbling of a few self-annointed “patriots” here who assert a (fallacious) claim of defending our Constitution, a document many of them obviously have never read judging by their knowledge of it.

All we are asking is for Obama to undergo the same sort of background check any of us would be subject to if we were applying for a job requiring a high level security clearance.

This has not happened with Obama, in spite of what the Obama campaign, the DNC, the MSM, and hordes of “conservative” Obama followers might claim.

This background check will never happen for the man who will become one of the most powerful people on earth, and a man who has demonstrably taken steps to hide aspects of his life and career.

Access to his long form birth certificate would be only a small part of the background check that should have happened months ago.

Is this too much to ask?
